I don't think your depression is holding you back at all. You seem to have recognized the problem, so you can do something about it now. Start small, maybe with some indoor flowers that you water everyday. Or some cactus, that maybe does not need to be watered everyday. IN the meanwhile, take out a book from the library about gardening and teach yourself some things. Motivation comes from within yourself, having the will to learn and try new things. Don't look at it from a bigger perspective because that is overwhelming. Look at it as small steps leading up to the bigger things. That way you can do the small steps and feel accomplished, instead of trying to do the big thing and being disappointed.

1) Reflect whether you have any toxic relationships around. There's often at least 1 Narcissist (person with narcissistic personality disorder) in a family/ extended family and that can take a big toll. 2) And yes cut out/ down the carbs, sugars and processed foods you'll feel a lot better. Even check if dairy badly affects you. 3) Look up Marie Kondo's Konmari method of decluttering and sparking joy in life. It reduced my anxiety and brought me a lot of joy and peace. Order and beauty outside foster order and beauty inside. All of these things helped turn life around for me.
