Let's cut the woman some slack here, Wieniawski's Variation is notoriously difficult for all violinists and the previous two pieces she performed were more than spectacular. She won because she deserved it and was amazing in stage 4 of the competition.

The violin is one of the greatest instruments there is. Behind the piano, it's my favorite instrument. A great violinist will bring tears to the eyes or make the heart dip. Their emotions flow through their fingers. I truly love this! So dramatic, so complex, so beautiful. Great job! Thanks for posting, maurice

I love her Wieniawski variations on a original theme... I heard many and she plays this piece in the best way... not sloppy, too fast... just in point, juicing each note perfectly...

Unfortunately the low resolution of this recording obscures, but certainly in no way negates, the phenotypic beauty of this amazing violinist. I saw her play the Sibelius Op. 47. and Paganini 5th and she is incredible in every sense of the word. Nothing against the likes of Taylor Swift, Beyonce and Miley Cyrus, but this is where I gravitate when seeking unfettered musicianship, beauty, discipline and talent

A bad violinist can also bring tears to the eyes and make the heart dip but just for different reasons. LOL haha yeah but I am in complete concordance with you. Violin rocks!!!

Superb in every way. The only thing that i would like to comment on her playing is her way of checking pitch using light pizzicato, it is often too loud and can be heard clearly

Prokofiev must have been in unusually high spirits when he wrote Son. #1. I wonder - why she didn't play the Prokofiev from memory?

robotnik77 Because its a sonata, Sonatas are allowed to play with sheet music
@yvettekraft23716 жыл бұрын
robotnik77 because you have to learn 3+ hours of repetoire for Wieniawski competition, they allow music to be used for sonatas, also because it's considered a duo and therefore harder to know your separate part if you have both in your head

I just wonder for how long she had been playing it and whether she was "at one" with the instrument. The sound is a bit "brittle" to me. The Guadagnini is one of several made in 1773, a year after the luthier had moved to Turin, and the sound is completely different to Julia Fischer's 1742 model
