He surely did. I can’t wait for the SP2400, just don’t change those faders and SEQUENCER workflow, that’s standard in every SP. I’m open to every other new innovation to the SP. The one feature I think would be dope for the new SP is exporting the SEQ and the 8 channels to .wav like Pioneer’s DJS-1000.

Vickie! I keep saying this is a real mic drop moment for E-A-Ski, and wondered how many people would talk about it. Now we have 50 producers who will be pouring their hearts into these machines, on the 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop. This is a great look for the culture! I'm excited to hear what everyone produces. Still baffled by all the users that do not know their machines and haven't started using their preamps. Both X's are ultra transparent, have the best converters on the market and great preamps when you feel the need to dirty things up. Ppl are just ignorant to the fact that they are there and how to use them. Never have I witnessed so many ppl complain about their multitude of options we currently have.

Exactly! Most of the people here is too old to hear the max 20,000kHz of human hearing (after 35 it only gets worst), so the missing frequencies that any sampler with 44.1kHz has, wont even be fully notice when making sound comparisons which is a benefit to the 1200 which has a sample rate of 26.04kHz ,so it really captures freq up to 13KHz (lookup the Nyquist-Shannon sampling theorem). This is why very thing sounds so crunchy, not so much because of the 12bit, which is about the max headroom or how loud a sample can be w/o clipping. Easy money for Dave🤑 From the ICH .gov: "Humans can detect sounds in a frequency range from about 20 Hz to 20 kHz. (Human infants can actually hear frequencies slightly higher than 20 kHz, but lose some high-frequency sensitivity as they mature; the upper limit in average adults is often closer to 15-17 kHz.)"

There are multiple posts in online forums out there about the internal clock sequencing of the SP. It's 24 ppn, so even unsequenced it falls on a grid, which is easy to duplicate precisely with basic mathematics. You can also change your internal sequencing in most DAWs as well, not to mention the swing templates are out there for free download. Easy peezy.

Dave Rossum just added a Midi interface to the Assmila8or eurorack module which is 24 points of modulation and you can take the bit resolution down to zero, this blows module even further above the rest, this could mean only one thing, there is workstation coming down the pipeline and the new Midi interface for the Assmila8or has features that pair with SP 1200, it is coming all together now. Someone needs to send Akai an old PCB board from Akai mpc 3000, maybe they just dont have the schematics of their old machines. 😂

Man, I always wanted an SP-1200, but whenever I had the cash I always needed to put the money towards a car or some household shit. The most promising, affordable 12-bit drum sampler I've seen recently is the Behringers DMX clone, it's got 24 pads, 8 sliders, 8 outs, waveform editor and analog filters. The only downside, it's Behringer, so the thing's either a work of fiction, or you're gonna have to wait 5 years until it's released!😂

E-A-Ski has did something no other hip hop producer has ever done by working with Dave Rossum & Vickie and created a dope sampler. Ski 🎿 is so correct with saying sound matter and converters matter. I still use CDS 💿 because the sound quality is better than MP3’s. Ski 🎿 put me on the MPC4000 which is a 20 year old sampler and YES it sounds better than the modern MPC’s. I say all to say this, shit 💩 in is shit 💩 out and Akai simply isn’t cutting at the moment. Akai has great work flow but the sound is lack luster compared to the MPC4000 & SP-1200. I wanted one of these E-A Ski SP1200s, but couldn't afford it, and still can't afford it. With that said, I think Akai's next flagship MPC will be a major milestone in sound quality as a result of this movement. I'm willing to bet the next flagship MPC will come with a high-end sound that goes back to the days of the MPC4000. To be honest, I think the MPC4000 was truly the last really good sounding high-end MPC. I'm glad I still have mine. On a side note, I bet if E-A Ski, Roger Linn, and Dave Rossum all came together and collaborated on a project to develop a drum sampler that contained all of the features and sound quality of both the SP1200 and the MPC and called it an SP-MPC or something similar, it would be a true game changer for the industry.

@@badboy69cancer Really? I'd like to see that video!!! Do you have a link? Also, would turning on the 48v phantom power damage equipment not designed for it (like line-level devices, for example)? At least that's what I've read and heard. From my understanding, the +48v is only for use with studio condenser mics that "require" phantom power. Hmmm, maybe it's possible to use the XLR connections without the phantom power. I'll have to play around with it and see. Anyhow, thanks for the tip.

@11:00 - the GREAT equation to all this, is now there are many OLD units and NEW ones that are going to be floating around. Some of these new ones.. were bought with mortgaged dollars... probably most of them. So let's put that into perspective and now the market is flooded . That means ultimate price drop but not sure which one will be dropped the original or the new.. the users will dictate that. Saving up now 😎 And now my big question is... will there be anything masterful created and dropped with the use of the Rossen RE.... or will it be a silent endeavor in 2025

What exactly is the problem with the sound on modern MPCs? Here in Computer-DAW-land we can use send tracks for extra processing of the sound, that usually takes care of any sound problems. I'd imagine MPCs would come with parallel processing of some kind to reduce problems.

modern mpcs as well as a lot of other modern gear sounds delicate.all though you can simply fix that with outboard gear.by the time the average producer of today figure that out they have already spent double the money and start to wonder if the listeners can tell the difference.

A lot of producers are not sound engineers and don’t realize how to mix for punch, grit, color, etc. You can literally make any thing sound how you want with the tools available now. I guess some expect it like that straight out the sampler🤷🏾‍♂️

@chosen1beats312 run a signal through an SSL six stereo channel anolog recorded into your daw. Then have that same signal recorded to your daw thru just your interface. Use every plugin you want...and I bet you can't reach the same width and mid/mid hi saturation and smoothness that the converting in the six does. ITB is good and has come along way but you truly can't get the same results as analog conversion

The problem why we lost sound quality was when Akai was giving away MPCs to producers and content creators for beta testing who were using straight DAWs and never worked with hardware and they told Akai everything was good when it wasn't. Akai listened to those guys and pushed these products out there leaving a lot of disgruntled consumers.

The modern mpc's sound like whatever your input source is. And you can dirty it to your choosing. This whole wierd obsession with lesser quality on purpose, is WEIRD. Look, im OLD. Yall go on and on about mono magic and sp magic, BACK THEN WE DIDNT THINK THAT WAY! As SOON as a stereo sampler came out we ALL LEFT MONO AND AINT GO BACK! We used the SP because is WHAT WE HAD. NOONE at THAT time was going on about SP magic, NOONE! IT was what it was, necessity, not a style. Its so weird how people RE WRITE history, i mean, look at the cleopatra show and now hannibal, yall love doing that it seems.

Yeah, the modern ones sample at a higher bit rate, hence the cleaner sound. Cats are being sentimental and nostalgic over lower bit rates. I was 11 and 12 when the SP1200 and MPC 60 had came out in their respective years, so I didn’t have access to them at the time but I have heard in recent times how cats who were doing their thing on those machines back then weren’t originally seeking the type of sound quality they provided and that it was more of a ‘work with what they had’ a.k.a. “Make it do what it do” type of approach.
