Interesting. If I recall, steam trains were a different rail gauge? At least in the UK, I think they are. Does that apply to France? And if so, was the steam train here, amended for modern tracks? I know, over here, they just added 'smaller' tracks for the modern trains and kept the originals. Don't mind me, just rambling ;) Have a good weekend all.

Here they all have the same 1.435-meter gauge

@@AnthonyAndrews0128 The only different gauge in the UK (other than small narrow gauge lines) was the broad gauge of the Great Western in the mid 1800's. They changed when they couldn't work with every other mainline company that was standard gauge 4 feet 8 1/2 inches. That has been the case since 1892.
