@@southernpacific7457 Then they ran it out of Mojave for a bit, then it retired, I for one was wondering how the Hell they installed that pipeline which back in the late 70s wasn't even possible

The head end SOUTHERN PACIFIC units were all SD -40 M - 2s .M meaning Morrison Knudsen Rebuilt. They had different carbodies but internally were all rebuilt to LIKE NEW Dash 2 standards. They had different horns and different trucks than the original built new for Southern Pacific locomotives.

Why not to build a pipeline to transport this oil if any need in general to use oil and cause CO2 emissions as well as soot particles from engines?

thats exactly what happened. the reason the BKDOU stopped running is because they built a pipeline, which put the train out of business
