I like how you bring the beats to life with these actual records too - OG style.

I learned the basics on the Dr Sample SP 202 then the 303 in the late nineties with DJ Cam, DJ Krush, and Shadow in mind. I’ve been using the SP 404sx for the past decade and miss that butter smooth reverse feature. The texture on the pads on the 303 was the best. Roland should re-release the 303 with extra pads, better memory and no OS bloatware. That said, guys like Dilla and Madlib actually made the limited voices and sudden dropping of the earliest sample part of their aesthetic where things appear and disappear in the mix suddenly. Cheers for another great beat and video.

I agree, I have the 404A and even though I do love it there’s just something special about the 303…it’s a sampler that makes you have to think 2 steps ahead and will still throw you a surprise. It has a sound and feel unlike anything else and I love it. You have to embrace the imperfections and wonky-ness. Thanks so much! I appreciate it! 🙏

another great beat! I like how you're incorporating external samples this round. Also, question - do you have a video or info regarding that pitch mod on your turntable?
@_sugr.skull_ Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much!! It was called an Ultra Pitch Mod kit, but I can’t seem to find a link anywhere to buy one anymore.

@@_sugr.skull_ cool. I googled and found this vid: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKO4Z5ufhK2ta5Isi=ZxNn3IuzcpBuZEDL all you have to do is adjust the pitch pot inside!

Awesome! I bought a kit for this like 7 years ago and when using the older SP’s its a god send!

@@_sugr.skull_ i bet! pitch on the sp’s are woefully lacking (except the mkii of course). I currently record samples on my 202, adjust pitch and send them right on thru to my 404sx for regular chopping duties. I’ve just found a good deal on a 303, so can’t wait to add that to the mix as well!
@_sugr.skull_ Жыл бұрын
@galaxyclassvoyager I feel that…I use the 202 as well, but it doesn’t have much of a range in its pitching and sometimes I don’t want the artifacts in my sample…DEFINITELY grab up the 303!!!
