got the game day one with a friend and I agree with a lot of your points, I did come across a game breaking bug but an avoidable one not that it mattered since it was fixed within the hour. Calling it a 1.5 and not a 2.0 is very accurate there's a lot of stuff from the old game and not too much new but I don't think this is a bad thing, I would much prefer a game that's too close to the great first game than too far from it. Gotta admit though the mercenary system is terrible, hired one he threw some bombs(or tried too) and then left in a few turns later, I didn't miss him and I didn't care he left. For the price of a rare strong weapon I was expecting more and I haven't hired one since. Been having a blast with it however, it's just fun from start to finish and I love that each level has a different "chaos" events

Yeah I cut it from the video as it was getting a bit long but the mercenary system is just "meh". We never used it. Getting an NPC into your team of friends is just never goals. And on top of that, it needs to align as they're only around for a few turns and you mainly want them when you engage the toughest enemies!

As a veteran of for the king and a day one player that had all the crashing/multiplayer bugs I can say this game doesn't deserve "mixed" reviews. I do agree with the majority it was ruff on launch but despite that the devs have made true efforts to fix issues very quickly. Comparing it to generally most triple A studios releasing game nowadays this game is a comparable masterpiece at launch with a full multiplayer system and full story with nothing needed to be bought. Also, the devs are actively fixing things where most don't. Don't get me wrong it was a ruff start and multiple people not being able to view shops IS THE MOST infuriating thing about ftk2 it's still definitely worth the pick up if you just want to have fun game nights with friends.

Game is good. i dont ever judge a game by clear and obvious launch bugs and issues. this isnt new, literally every game that comes out has launch bugs and issues. seeing reviews on steam saying the game is bad because of it is unjustified if u ask me. judge the game for what its clearly intended to be, not its bugs shortly after release. then theres some of the features that is missing, like hovering abilities and passives for a tooltip instead of using a third party wiki or the in game encyclopedia. adding some of these features helps a lot. also, even tho there has been some balancing issues, which is being or has been fixed, i wish they kept the warning they had in ftk1. the one that said something along the lines of "dont expect to win on ur first, second, or any early attempts". winning will usually happen after learning mechanics and after meta progression has been unlocked. at least in ftk1, meta progression was pretty big, and even in the new game it matters. One feature i get rly annoyed by is that certain minmaxing is rly annoying to deal with. got a spyglass for +1 view distance, and a ring that gives hp regen?? using both means u have to switch between them every single round. there should be a different slot for round end trinkets and active during turn trinkets. or even better, make loadouts that u can use ingame. if u have gathered a HP regen armor set + gear to use while moving and not fighting, well atm u need to switch every piece manually. would be nice to assign gear to a loadout slot ingame.

Well I think it's fair to people to be disappointed and it's ok to expect/want a game that isn't buggy on launch even though it's rare like you say! But, I also see what you mean! Also agree with the things you point out as something you want!

@@Spuzie it sure is fair to expect a playable game at launch. there was one very bad bug that stopped people from interacting with anything. its a severe bug for sure, but i think it got fixed in a couple hours after launch. i think its fair to include bugs in reviews, but i think if u do ur also giving urself the responsibility to remove it / change review when its fixed. as u mention, the steam reviews are mixed, but many are negative due to bugs, many of which are fixed hence the review should be updated / nullified. just for the sake of the studio and the devs, and for potential buyers/customers, would be nice if the reviews are actually accurate. overall tho nice review. cudos for being able to bring up the bad things without sounding like ur bashing the game down. this is hard to do so good job spuz! steam has this problem where u can only review in black and white. its impossible to do what u do here and say "good game, but it needs some fixing. it will be way better once fixed"

I'm currently softlocked in chapter 5, can't progress because fights stall (doesn't progress to next turn). I love the game, I'll love it even more when it's fixed. The cherry on top is that I can't send bug reports because I get a "request timed out" error. So. Yeah.

I got into For the King kinda later in it's life cycle. It was only a few weeks ago that I finally beat every mode, and the two main campaigns on master. I proudly proclaimed that I had beaten it and I was done with the RNG HELL! Then I got a notification that a second game was coming out....and I died a little inside knowing it was going to happen all over again. I love the game, just....don't play it on master lol

In my few hours of playing FTK1, it felt like co-op was an after thought. You just cut up the gameplay and split it amongst people. Here it seems more like something they had in mind from the get go, which is nice

Thanks for putting the review out! I loved the first game but of the two channels I've seen play the first game, one was sponsored but never went back to the game (which says a lot given their love for the first game) and the second creator never even bothered with For the King 2 despite being hyped for its release for several months prior. Hearing your honest opinions gives me more hope for the game though perhaps I'll wait a while longer. Also any chance you put more casual gameplay vods out?

after playing to and winning the 3rd scenario i will say this. the enemies hit far harder in FTK2 than in FTK1 so loot luck is 100% something that needs to be taken into consideration when talking about the difficulty. you get bad drops you wont win, its as simple as that. my first ever game i got rolled at lvl 2 while the game after i rolled the first scenario because my drops made 1 of my characters nigh immortal with 85% dodge. the changes to combat and the addition of the secondary action has made the game way more fun. glass weapons and other breakable weapons is usable now since you only take "half a turn" to swap weapons incase it breaks

I jumped in and tried it solo, got bored after 2 minutes! The main deal of this game for me is that you're each controlling your own characters and try to work together! BUT I know ppl who has enjoyed this game solo! You can control several characters! Some people like it, but for me it's multiplayer or bust on this one!

As someone who loved FtK 1. I truly am sad that they felt the need to make a second game. I liked the old graphics and I like both ways of handling pvp the same. I feel like this should have stayed as only "For The King" with updates and payed DLC with more content. I think they felt like a new game would generate hype to make more sales that they did with their first game. However I feel like they could have marketed DLC the same way. I have since refunded and I will keep having fun in the first game.
