We decided to head over to Hard Rock Live in Orlando on Friday to catch Ace Frehley perform live. We've seen KISS and Ace many times live over the years and our curiosity was piqued. This is our experience.

Seen him in Charlestown WV this past week. It was ( and not trying to be funny) like half concert, half Sally Jessie Rafael. Would sing a 5 minute song, then talk about his ex for 10 minutes. It was so weird. Then totally just forgot rock soldier lyrics. The band was looking around at each other like what is he doing?!?!? And it wasn't expensive for tickets, but still I spent hard earned money for nothing!!! Plus it's a 1 hour 20 minute trip each way for me. So yea, wished I woulda just stayed home and watched married with children reruns. But cool video 😁 Thanks for posting. God bless and love sent sent from southern Pennsylvania.

He forgot the lyrics for other songs at our show, but Rock Soldier was pretty spot on. The rambling between songs was on another level. I figured it’s one last go round of seeing him play live. Love to south Philly!

I totally Enjoyed the Show, had a Great Time. If you are going to see Ace, you will not be getting prim and proper, you will be getting whatever he feels like doing at the time. Not everyone will like that, but I LOVED it!

Scotty is incredibly talented, along with the other band members. The show was basically 90% them and 10% Ace.

Great meeting you guys after the show! Spot on review to what I thought! 😂 Had the FOMO myself, bought the ticket an hour before.. I considered this my Farewell to Ace show going in.. 5th time seeing him solo, and definitely the worst, but I knew it would be so I wasn’t expecting much.. Man, that 20 min “guitar solo” reminded me of myself when I was 12 learning to play.. Hard to watch that train wreck.. I caught the Love Gun failed start on vid with the light guys reacting.. Hilarious! Ace didn’t even know the song stopped for like 20 seconds either.. All in all, it was fun to see Ace regardless, but yeah, after he finishes riding this post KISS Farewell demand wave of shows, he needs to go relax… 🤘🏻

Spot on! I recorded most of the solo, waiting for the “good part”. I really wanted the best for him and continue to wish the best. It was a fun show overall and worth the walk up ticket. Thanks for saying hello to us. I wish you would have said that you played with Newsted as well. I love that record and hope to see him live at some point. It was great to meet you!

I saw him in 2019 in Pensacola FL and that was a great show. He seemed pretty out of it with what you posted, but it still looks like a fun time!

So, to answer your question, it’s pretty clear that Ace would NOT have survived KISS’ farewell tour had he signed up - in fact, I’m a little surprised he survived this one show. Woof.

Citywalk was crazy busy before the Ace show. Enjoy the Lep show. I saw they were doing BOGO tickets recently and I considered it, but it’s a bummer that it’s in the middle of the week.

So up here in Buffalo NY we have an interesting situation. We have the Gene Simmons Band playing the Riviera theatre on 8/19 and then 2 days later on 8/21 we have Ace Frehley playing at the same venue. The price of Gene's tickets are 2x the price of Aces. I have seen Ace many times solo and to be honest I prefer to remember those times and not see the train wreck he has become. So I bought my tickets to see Gene on 8/19. Both of them honestly have great backing bands.

Haha I passed you on the people mover on the way to the show I thought I recognized you on the way to the show. I thought the show was great for what it was I went not expecting to see the guitar god from the 70's but a guy who is in his 70's performing Kiss songs. Ace has not treated himself well over the years and knowing he has memory issues and his back story I got a real authentic rock show all live and no backing tracks or prerecorded vocals to which his former band cannot say the same. Stick a fork in them because the next time you see them they will be computer generated cartoons on the big screen😂. An Ace show will be warts and all and I knew that going in so I left the show very happy because it was a genuine authentic rock show and as a member of the AARP crowd I thought it was great.

Ace being live was great (for his backing band) and bad (for most of his singing and playing). It was good to see him one last time. It’s just hard to compare this to his solo shows in the 80s and 90s.

@@ViewFromTheCheapSeats I agree it's not the Ace of old it's just the old Ace and as I Kiss fan for 40 plus years hearing the music played live to me is still better than what is to come in a few years only being able to hear it on a CD, vinyl, the radio or god forbid avatars. I had low expectations because I know how his life has been and maybe breaking up with Lara threw him back off the wagon but I still enjoyed the show because what is the alternative to this his former band is done playing live and he's not far behind.

Ace is coming locally for a concert this summer and the only reason im entertaining the idea if going is to listen to him trash Gene and Paul. Backing band sounds awesome. Ace story I instantly go to involves Ace proclaiming he was a great chef with Peter and kissing his 🍆 on his shoulder in a dressing room prior to a show.

Ace has some bizarre stories for sure. He’s worth a watch for his band alone, but you never know which Ace is going to show up. We got the rambling and incoherent version at our show.

I was there as well. You have to be a guitar player to enjoy Ace. He is a sloppy guitarist. I personally like sloppy guitar players like Ace, Mick Mars, and CC deville. I loved when they had to restart Love Gun. This type of stuff is fading away, real live music, and instruments. This is Taylor swift, its real. As long as Ace can keep going, he should keep getting up on stage and doing what he loves. Atleast hes not faking it like KISS did on their last tour.

Ace is absolutely awful. His backing band is doing all the heavy lifting. If it wasn’t for them he would have to do free shows. He has a lot of great songs from his solo career (Frehley’s Comet and beyond) but he just ignores that whole era. Why are you playing Detroit Rock City and Rock n Roll All Night? If you are going to play cover songs why not a couple from his excellent Origins albums? Ace needs to practice and make a better setlist.
