Space Angel! I pity the ultra sophisticate youngsters who hate on this on this series. The stories were well written. The art was Alex Toth! Music by Walter Greene. Space Angel debuted while NASA was in the Mercury program! To watch the entire weekly story kids had to tune in Monday thru Friday. This series is a Sci fi classic, if only for concepts that would later be used 2001: A Space Odyssey, Star Trek, and others that came after it. Thank You bringing back very fond memories!

Hey, I watched Space Angel when it originally came out in the early 60s. I still watch these episodes. I don't consider them dopey. I kinda look, for instance, at Johnny Kendall as an early MacGyver.

Thank You very much for posting the Space Angel series and this episode in particular. As a seven year-old in 1962, the idea of two kids building a functional flying saucer was a electrifying concept...leading to the design of several orange crate creations that never seemed to achieve anti-gravity status! Guess I also related to the nerdy kid wanting social acceptance, and the generally positive message of the whole series. My imagination easily filled in any discrepancies in the cartoon, mostly thanks to the great, technically accurate scripts that would have stood on their own as a radio show. Thank You Again, Kim

I just found a Space Angel Official Membership Card I picked up at a junk store back in the 1980s. It was fun to see an example of what the show looked like.

This sure brings back memories of the early 60s. I used to watch this show as a young kid around the time I first started elementary school. I'd forgotten how low-tech a cartoon it was--really more like a comic strip with hokey moving mouths transposed over the characters, but I always liked Scott McCloud Space Angel. Plus this was around the time that UFOs and the idea of space travel and other worlds had very much entered the social consciousness, so it's topic matter was very timely.

I grew up in the Chicago area. Used to watch Space Angel in WGN's Garfield Goose and Friends. Hung on each episode all week long.

Amazing how many thing's in this great cartoon series can be found in other science fiction shows and movies. In the movie "The Bamboo Saucer", The "Saucer" used a almost identical magnetic drive as Johnny Kendall invented. It was also shown flying around a F-104 Starfighter and a P-51 Mustang in virtually the same manner as Johnny buzzed Space Angel.

The leader of that criminal gang looked like the Frank Nittey character that was portrayed in "The Untouchables". The gang even referred to him as "Nittey".

Space Angel is my favorite cartoon. I'm a 67 year-old woman who's been watching space angel from the very beginning. This one is not my favorite cuz I don't like Johnny Kendall. He's been in three episodes and he's just annoying. I do have DVDs of most of the episodes from season one I just order two more and that's all I can really want.
