This music was also in Final Yamato where Dessler's fleet reveals itself at the end to blow the crap out of Emperor Lugal de Garl's Dinguir fleet when it was targeting a H3O-laden Yamato above the wandering planet Aquarius.

Yeah, even back then I never quite understood why this kept being Desler/Deslock's theme even after he'd turned 'good' in the series continuity. Nice hearing the 'rock' version finally after all these years, as the original 2-CD soundtracks only included the more orchestral-leaning one. Both were great, but this is the version used in the series when he escapes and I just loved it, then and now.

@@catfdljws They use it in the new version of the series, which is fantastic btw, if you haven't seen it - the first season follows the original, but it fleshes out the Gamilon culture. There's a scene where Lysis has a battle with a Comet Empire fleet where it features prominently.

Following the White Comet Empire series, I see Desler(Deslock) as evil as the Prince, the Bolar Federation, and all the rest. only, Desler has honor, he has some virtue and some worth in him. He is noble, and true to his word.

I forget the name of that one ambassador that shows Kodai the shipyard/time vault, but for whatever reason, I get a feeling that he is secretly Dessler in disguise. Dessler helps the Yamato in the original series, and since the new series spins concepts from the old, I could see them doing that. His motive is the comet empire is more powerful than both, so he would rather defeat the star force to reclaim his sense of superiority, or it would be a way of thinking them for preventing dessler from destroying gamillas in that suicide run he tried with the floating city back in 2199

Some say that Char Aznable from Gundam is the quintessential "honorable villain". I say the whelp learned all his moves from the master! Desslok! :D (And don't forget General Talon!! He proved WHY he's Desslok's right-hand man. He's obviously had this escape plan READY and the logistics worked out. He's already got the air-car AND the ship in the dock waiting. He's a master pilot who got Desslok out in damn near "running the Death Star trench" levels of skill and daring. Oh yes - Desslok knows who he can trust to get the job done!)

Back when they did the Central Expressway make-over and right in the middle of the construction the ENTIRE DAMN ROAD would raise up an entire level, or drop down into a pit or cranes would be overhead at random times. Bridges halfway done... You never knew WHAT you were going to get. This was about at the same time that Virtual World was active there and I always joked that to even GET THERE you had to do a death-star trench run so you were already well in practice for a couple of games of Red Planet. :D :D :D

Yes, Originally produced in Japan in 1974 as "Space Battleship Yamato." Desler was the leader of the Gamilians.
