I just watched this entire series an .. wow .. I mean it’s slightly intimidating seeing the massive work it takes to get this level off I e detail .. but inspiring aswell .. I hope to obtain this level of talent in the near future .. 7 months in on my off time and so far an it’s going … but I need to see something like this .. I have so much more to learn

Hey Antti! I made a very rough alpha line generator in Substance Designer (in this case Version 2) to use in Substance Painter, it's far from finished but works better than the actual way to do it IMO. The hair was not made in substance, these are hair particles inside Blender. It was very complicated and I made the hair several times until I got the final one.

Thanks a lot. The breakdown on your website is probably some of the best and cleanest I've seen. I use Zbrush + Maya + Arnold Renderer, so I couldn't follow along 1:1, but was still great nonetheless! Keep it up, you seem to have great work ethic!

I dont use normals for this, I use Height maps, and you can stack layer over layer, so its very easy to add or remove height.

I know! I had in mind to make an extensive tutorial about Substance, but If I have a lot of professional work, I just make a timelapse. By the way! I'm finishing a collaboration with Adobe Substance, and after that, I will have time to think about making a Substance Painter Course. I only notice that I don't have the "Beginners Mind." And I need to figure out what's challenging to make when starting. Please let me know if you have specific doubts so I can include that.

@@aendom While waiting for your answer, I also found a way that may be easier and intuitive using Textools which is a free addon, choose baking and select Element ID, combine the separate object and UV the object, then press baking, the addon will automatic baking an ID map then you could import to painter instead of baking in painter and it's faster and easier to me.

Great tutorials ! several questions !!! 1. what's the second software to draw alphas ! 2. how do u import alphas into substance without saving the file 3. noticed a paint and after blur - merge layers - how do u do that ?

First! Thank you! 1. The second program is Affinity Designer (is like illustrator of Adobe) 2. Export the alphas as a square image, then import the image ( alpha ) into Substance. 3. If you can put a timestamp to know which part you are telling me would be great!

1. The clay render takes like 15 minutes with a GTX1080. If you are using CPU try GPU instead. 2. I did not include the substance Files because are a complete mess. BUT! I will make a Live series here on KZbin to showcase how I texture real time.

I'm painting a character LIVE on my Twitch, the only problem its that I speak in Spanish. If you mute, you can see the movements at normal speed. Also, I will upload a timelapse of that project. I'm thinking to upload two videos of that project, one at normal speed, and another at a fast pace.
