This was the first dice tower video I ever saw years ago, which lead me to buy this wonderful game. I have since met Tom at two different Essen Spiels, wonderful down to earth guy. Just recently we pulled this off the shelf to play again after many years, and here I am again watching this video to relearn how to play. Thank you again Tom and Dice Tower for making these wonderful videos and keeping them available after all these years.

Found this game in a charity op shop - so happy it's highly recommended. Looking forward to playing it!

That puck flicking torpedo mechanic is brutal. I can see a lot of yelled curses and thrown things.

There's a lot of this "bridge crew" theme going around, between this, FTL, Artemis and finally SpaceTeam for the iPad. Kind of a "multiple discovery" of games.

The game is like a mosaic- the individual pieces are simple but together it forms a beautiful picture!.

That's what I thought. Also like how the mini games are implemented for each role. They need to create other themes for this game structure, after this do like Tank Command or a Battleship/aircraft carrier would be cool.

read your comment as the video was started and pretty much made up my mind that I'm buying this asap. I love faster than light and a board game version of it sounds amazing!

Yes, the designers decided to cap the max amount of players at 6 instead of 9 (one per station) because some stations turned to be boring at some times alone.

There is a place for BOTH not just one or the other. Have you ever lost to the BOARD in a board game? If not go play Pandemic and come back and comment. It is really fun to play these games. Also I'm not sure what you mean "everybody's a winner" we have competitive games in all years of school from like 3rd grade and beyond.

Space Cadets is really one of my favorite tabletop games ever.

The component quality looks a little poor but the idea and implementation looks fun.

This reminds me some preview you did not so long ago, for a game with a similar theme and simultaneous play. Though players in that game were able to go to any spot on the ship. This looks nicer and mini games look connected between each other and with the theme.

this looks great for a co-op game...and I'm a sucker for games within games, however, I learned a lesson from Mansions of Madness that these games get kinda heavy(like a sorta steep learning curve) because there is so much going on...I want to get it but I'm not sure I have the gaming group for it

Looks amazing. I can't wait to play this game.

I read that Space Alert has more of a puzzley feel whereas Space Cadets feels more like a lot of simultaneous minigames. Space Alert has shorter play sessions in general and probably a shorter teaching time, although Space Cadets may be easier to learn for individual players because they only have to learn rules for their job(s).

Most people have two jobs. Plus you can help the other players with their tasks. It's pretty rare anyway that you get absolutely no energy.

Where are you in Japan? Come over for Ghost Stories, Pandemic, Agricola, Disc World, Seasons, Dominant Species, Quarriors, Dominion, Catan Seafarers, Alien Frontiers, Lords of Waterdeep, Jambo, Jaipur, Morels, Lost Cities, Hive, King of Tokyo, and Tobago!!! :P

Too bad that I never have more than 1 other person to play with! I would love this game.

On the surface it sounds like a bunch of not-that-interesting mini games combined into one - but I'm thinking the mix of playing it as a group and the time pressure makes it much more fun & interesting; I'll have to try it out if I get the chance.

Hey Tom! How do you compare this game to Space Alert?
@Bibblebrush11 жыл бұрын
Hmm, not quite sure about playing a bunch of flashgames and I'm wondering if the main theme gets swallowed because of it. Still looking forward to giving it a try though.

Found it - Damage Report watch?v=7RS44s56QIk Funny that Tom is saying for every such game, that it's a bit different than others, because you have to hold your ship together, though this is probably the main relation between all these games :)

In the front art they never added the buttons to the control panels :/

Technically you can play with more people right? Have a dedicated damage control or tractor beam guy?
@Torbarian10 жыл бұрын
Well its fun for Friends to play games together and not against each other you do have friends right?
@rockxhero11 жыл бұрын
I thin the problem with cooperative games is that they can feel like a one player game, except with other people. This game does feel like a collection of mini games, only working together.

So if you don't get any energy you don't get to do anyhing that round?

Is it possible whatsoever to play this with two? I might get this to the table with more than two once a month here in Japan, but usually it would just be the wife and I.

Haha, as long as you understand I've never played Space Cadets before :P But yeah, FTL is amazing!

No.Space Alert is an old one. And he was doing a preview, i think this year, of another game. Well, Space Alert has the same theme of course.

Looks like a fun game, but with minimum 3 players I can see it would be harder to bring out than some other games.

apparently yes as i just learned on reddit. but I think it might create downtimes for certain people.

Just got this in the mail today. The production value of theplay boards is really cheap. I haven't even played it yet and the board edges are already scratched up.

Ah got ya. I backed their first game on kickstarter (Disaster Looms) and the gameplay was fun but the components were low quality and the rulebook was poorly written. It kind of discouraged me from their games.

As somebody who takes good care of my games, EVERY time I see you pour the content of a board game on a table I have this super-cringe moment.

What a weird game.

This game looks like it could be fun except that the engineer is going to get verbally abused unless they play great. That could make a fun game, not so fun very quickly.

I don't see a point of cooperative games

Where's fun in patting each other on the back how well have we defeated a board game? It's much more fun to play competitive games (yes, with friends and yes, even if somebody loses we still remain friends) Is this a result of "everybody's a winner" style practiced in US schools these days? ;)
@Reggie14085 жыл бұрын
Did you pat yourself on the back when you got an A on a test in school?
