Understandable. Although I am not particulary scared of the depth of the universe, I know one may feel intimidated by it's incomprehensible size, and empitness of space. We may never get to see it by ourselves, but maybe our successors will, or at least their ascended forms, hopefully.

gives a sense of scale to the universe tbh. Even light can take millions or trillions of years to travel from one point to the other unless it somehow warped through space-time. @rafox66 2 ай бұрын
@@gneu1527 In terms of scale, yes. if you were to go from Earth to the Andromeda galaxy (the closest galaxy to our Milky Way) and you are travelling at C speed (the speed of light). It would take you around 2.537.000 real years to get there, so it's exactly as it is in real life. I have never tried that myself, don't have the patience for it ;P But I have gone from Earth to the Sun at light speed in Space Engine to test it out, and it took around 8 minutes, which is also the case in real life. The thing that makes Space Engine usable is that you can travel much much much faster than the speed of light, which would never be possible in real life. Travelling at those unfathomable speeds makes it all seem smaller than it actually is.

I like how in sci-fi, merely going FTL makes the stars streak past at insane speeds. But in reality (ignoring it being impossible to see anything), stars are so far apart that in order for that to happen, you have to be going like 300 MILLION TIMES light-speed.
