Nice, I Seen and built something similar a long while back only real difference was mine had an ejector and a small amount of internal cargo space for the ejector to carry explosives. So you could drop a few back up and shoot the explosives to blow doors, walls and important targets. Might need to redo it considering the new blocks we have to work with.

I think the assault cannon has a small area of effect explosion. Not sure how explosive the ammo is out of a cargo container. So many questions but an interesting idea.

I don’t think explosives detonate when shot anymore, at least not when dropped like that. I believe they changed it a while back, like a few years ago maybe 🤔. We might be thinking of different things hinges tho.

Very impressive. I also noticed the warhead in case you get irreparably stuck or damaged, or find something that will benefit from it (like two large hydrogen tanks close together). That said, the ship you were infiltrating is very old. More modern ships often have more interior space to work with, but are often better protected as well.

I remember building 1 large grid block sized trap drone. You would go to an enemy ship (maybe like in a drydock or something), find a nice spot on the ship and grind 1 block. Maneuver the drone in and lock it down with a landing gear. Paint the outside camouflage layer the same as the enemy ship blocks around u. Power in the sensor and turn of the antena. (also i think it is supposed to be set to neutral affiliation at that point) That type of drone (atleast couple years back) was u could say invisible unless u knew to look for it or made a very close fly-by past the drone. The warhead ammount that fits inside leaves the ship crippled.

If you were to replace the gun with a grinder you could make a buzz droid. Imagine a missile filled with 6 of these and when another missile penetrates the armor this comes in and deploys the buzz droids and attack vital systems.

I used to do these but with saws. Have them just grind through anything they came in contact with. Adding a gun makes more sense for fighting internal turrets..

this vid really has such a cinematic vibe, like an actual movie about future space-warfare, during a part where the enemies are using a drone to finish off any resistance inside of a ship they ambushed that part at 4:00 and especially 4:05 of firing through the glass of the cryo-pod really feels like a video of a future-space-war warcrime, shooting through the doors and into the glass of a cryo-pod to kill the defenseless freeze-sleeping occupants this should genuinely be a scene in a movie

Nice design. Didnt think something like this could get that much attention. I have found in my own designs that building them around the gun helps alot with controling the recoil and makes it MUCH easier to handle. (They are also great as a basis for all sorts of drones, not just combat/infiltration ^^ )

Hey! I made a similar concept! But it instead had no armor, no gatling, but it could fit into the "Offset" doors of the Frostbite DLC. First just a very compact camera drone, but I made versions with explosives to take out key components of larger ships.

Imagine, if you would, a two stage torpedo. The drone is somewhere in the center, with the warhead in the front. Torpedo is fired, drone detaches, torpedo lands and explodes, drone enters. All it takes is one man on the Breach-N'-Clear machine.

My favorite breach drones in MP are the ones that act like mobile shield platforms for an engineer so we have someone on board to hack core systems and take the ship for ourselves, extra points when sending them with supplies to build a console and seal the doors so we can vent the crews.

This gave me an idea. A missile that clamps into your ship with magnetic plates, grinds a hole and extends a piston through it with a turret. Its like an antipersonnel missile that keeps most of the ship intact. Would be weird to use but cool to make.

you could always place a grinder that way it precicely cuts it off, but you still need to feed ammo to it, maybe charge the battery a bit before sending it. I find mergeblock printer stuff most times ineffectient, besides if its one shot weapons like a torpedo launcher system or bombs f.e.

I just go in with a suit after I disable the outside turrets with either a ship, or if it is a station, I disable the turrets with my suit as well. Then go in military style and take out the inside turrets with my suit. More fun that way.

Yeah sad thing is that the drone would desintegrate if it was in a moving ship, if you had inertia turned on it would try to stop when the ship around it was moving and as such slamming into a wall, repeatedly. And if you turned off inertia then you would still have a problem with balancing movement of the Drone and adjusting to the ships acceleration and gyro movement which would be close to impossible.

I usually play solo and the last time I tried to invade modded NPC structure I found a 150mm cannon in one of the rooms like I know that I have a mod that allows structures to use modded weapons bud I didn't expect it to put a cannon inside a room it either chooses something useless like point defense that doesn't attack or something op like a 300mm cannon or a railgun
