LOL, that anticlimactic collision with block damage off. Superb camera work later on, filming the killer collisions from 3 different angles, was like watching a sports event :) Blue team's red ship looked and worked great, especially for a ~30 minute build. But holy shit, Wedge's auto-repairing double Tombstone was awesome!

THere's a point in every person's life where they stop asking why. One of my team decided to be funny and paint RTD's ship blue. I would have rather had the SSA colours of Orange, Teal and Green, but that's just me.

Words cannot describe how epic this episode was. The camera work, music, and commentary throughout the show was top notch & high quality. One could say, that the combat shown here, is better than most sci-fi's in recent history... Both teams came to fight. Though only one team will win... Hats off to the underdog for losing with honor and mad respect. But even Wedge cannot escape from paying his dues to the Clang. Cheers and thank you gents!

Something that I've been concepting in my head as a challenge: Mechanical-only cluster missile - one button allowed to turn the power on, no timers, no sensors, no programmable blocks. The design I have in mind splits into 12 warheads, 4 decoys and a central penetrator. Though I doubt this will go anywhere, I think you're the man for the challenge. :P

It wouldn't work very well. It would be an absolute mess of a problem. However, using gravity and mass blocks, you can make a rapid-fire launch system.

Me too. Apparently blue team was going to do a rock shotgun originally, but.. I guess someone realized those don't do very well on a ship that has to turn.

Yeah, I'm surprised about that as well. Inject the enemy ship with high speed rocks and let Clang do the rest.

Eh rocks don't do much damage anymore, especially against heavy armor. BUT if you can get rocks through the armor they'll rip apart the inside of a ship. You also have to hold still while shooting them which is a bit of a problem.

the "rock shotgun" is very strong as a stationary weapon but on a constantly moving and turning ship it would probably do more damage to your own ship

I was wondering if there's a way to isolate the ammo before firing. Maybe if you had a strong 'gravity bottle' you could keep them in one spot? Basically a ton of gravity generators pointing in around the chamber, with a narrow opening at one end where the field is a bit weaker. You'd have to pulse harder to overcome it when you fired, but maybe it'd be usable while moving?

This gets better with every episode! I think I would have built a Borg cube, 25 metre long blast door spikes, multiple small reactors spread throughout the ship and 5 gyros per torpedo for extra penetration.

I'd go with: 1 person pilots main ship, which has just a ton of armor and flies evasively. While other side focuses on this ship, my other 4 teammates pilot remote-control drones armed with grinders in a swarm to take apart the other ship. Ejector on drones lets them discard ground parts as chaff to summon Clang. Projector lets main ship construct more drones if they are lost.

Also it would be cool to be able to craft/unequip your space suit an jetpack, so you have to "earn" them in certain survival scenarios. It would make (hopefully being added) ladders and airtightness on ships and stations more relevant. Procedurally generated planets would make space exploration on your mothership a lot more interesting (right now I don't really have a reason to leave my planet, except of looking cool while doing so and platinum).

I'd've gone with a matador approach. I would have made a bunch of small large ships for each to pilot, held together by merge blocks. As soon as it was deployed, we would disconnect, attempting to lure them to ramming an asteroid, and, if all else fails, I would put a self-repairing blast door ramming pylon.

Even better, I would add landing gears, as to lock onto the enemy ship and overpower their thrusters.

As a little tip: if you could, maybe have a few separate Discord (or whatever you use for voice chat) accounts sitting in the respective teams' lobbies and record what's being said there (unless there's an easier way of doing that). That way, you can replay an important moment with the teams' reactions as it happens. It would have been nice to hear, for example, a team's response when they discovered they're being snuck up on and need to dodge; or how the respective teams responded when a big hit happened.

What about a build-off where the goal is to build a ship with only forward thrust and no weapons. The competitors would have to engineer a ship made for jousting and ramming, and i think the thruster limitations would make for some interesting maneuvering!

RTD should've made more use of the autolock landing gear. It would've been almost useless on it's own from an offensive standpoint, but if Omicron can't break free from a well-placed lock, they'd have to either missile themselves or force a stalemate. After ramming proved to be suicide twice in a row, it became obvious that RTD either latch on or lose.

i think the best weapon would be to just put a bunch of rotors and pistons together, with a reactor, some thrusters, gyroscope and remote control. then fly the whole thing as close to the enemy ship as possible, override gyro and thrusters, activate all pistons and rotors and hope that it won't go in the wrong direction. lol

Locally hosted while streaming, hardware is a i7 5820k @ 4.5ghz, 32gb ddr4, 1080ti @ 2050mhz, 80mbps net was also recording 60mbps seperate video with 6 channels of audio during, as well as ofc OBS and all the other crap I run while I stream! SE behaving ok atm

Yeah. Kerradeph, one of the RTD team members, showed me his "missile." It was supposed to interact with a ship's gravity and cause issues. However, it refused to cooperate, and his team was a bunch of randoms, while mine were people I've designed stuff with, which is why I was on weapons creation. The RAGE that Wedge mentioned was my yelling as I had to leave my desk due to anger at SE's refusal to allow me to spawn in my missiles correctly.

I remember I had used airtight hanger doors as a weapon they might not be as good now as back then they work as instant crushers only way I suppose they would be use full would be connecting via landing gear to the enemies and turning them on to puncture holes in the ship. Hmmm gives me the idea of boarding a ship using them.

The more aesthetic ship was a lot better. Working missile launchers albeit prone to jamming, larger ship so more of a buffer against ramming and better placement of critical systems to avoid them being destroyed. 3-0 not surprising, probably would've been 10-0 if played that many times. Boxy ship had a their main large reactor right near the front and any time they did a good ram risked blowing themselves up, they didn't really have a lot of options only real chance was something being able to hit the rear of the aesthetic ship when the rear is the easiest part to protect when they have no missiles.

They had two reactors, one in the back and one in the front. My missiles (Reactors do more damage than warheads atm, btw) were supposed to only slam in and act as problem creators, not actual bombs.

I don't know if this still works, but the old ultimate was a small cargo container *full* of stone, and grinding it down partially. Once it hits something at sufficient speed, it releases the huge fuck off rock

rock shotgun? lawnmower? ram? why aint nobody going for mines? senors, thrusters, light armor, and a shitload of reactors. no radar signature, and you can have a mothership launch smaller ships that project the mines and leaves them behind. have the mother play bait, and have the enemy go right through the mines. you could also use the minelayers as rams.

I think that you made a big mistake this time by allowing each team to view the designs of the other team. The changes made to each ship in the 10 minute refresh allowed for almost completely different designs. I feel it would have been much more enjoyable to have gone with their original plans.

OSA (My team) DID attempt to make a gravity weapon, however, their attempt at making one did not pan out, so we used my torpedoes to full effect. And no, there were no warheads in those missiles. They weren't designed to do what they did.

So youve gone to a system where you live stream pn twitch and then the following week you post the cut version on youtube so twitch would always be one week ahead i like it gives you time but also allows people to watch it if there inpatient or like the uncut version without waiting correct me if im wrong but goodjob probably much more easier to do

You should REALLY get the "admin helper command" mod that let's you toggle blockdamage on or off ingame and can even change the gamemode from creative to survival on the fly. It makes things a lot easier to set up steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=316190120

I am kind of saddened that you changed it to where teams have to be pre-built because now, any one who does not have a decent amount of friends that plays SE has a very small chance of being able to take part in this. It would be great if you added a team recruitment website where people can find people to put teams together with.
