It was only wanting to see how I can make a button make the hinge go to a designated section. You didn’t tell us how to do that, but you explained the Hinge enough for me to do it myself and for that I thank you.

I got something to add for your vid on hinges. I'm trying to make mechs with an old PS2 game series (Armored Core) as reference material & I've been playing around with different ways to build legs+arms. Well I found out you can connect ALL 3 sizes of hinge to the same 1x1 hinge part at the same time. Key words here is "AT THE SAME TIME"! Been thinking of sub-grid knees or elbows, if aligned right you could have 2 hinges moving 1 hinge part for 2 speed settings or torque boosting (hinges are not as strong as rotors)... I was wondering if you had this covered in the vid, you didn't so I'm a share this with everyone. May clang be merciful to your builds👍😁

I saw someone build a tripod mining mech where the mining drills were literally the legs of the mech. It would mine as it walked across the surface of a planet, and I imagine stacking hinges together like that is how they managed to make it work. The build looked cool as fuck, and since the hinges double as conveyer tubes as well the legs would actually deposit gathered materials into large storage bins located at the core of the structure. Imagine if you could take those and rig it up to AI to wander across the surface of a planet, collect stone, then return back to a connector and deposit said stone into a refiner. Or if you built one with built in refining capabilities and utilized it to harvest, refine, and then drop of materials. I love this game because once you figure out what you're doing you can create some insane shit.

one way a lot of ppl are utilizing hinges is as a trailer hitch... where you have to place a vertically aligned and a horizontally aligned hinge with zero resistance. This way the trailer can go up and down and left and right. Unfortunately, I dont think it transfers power being a sub-grid to the main grid (rover), so the trailer still needs its own power source. I used to have pistons and hinges down, quit for a while, came back and now I'm trying to learn them all over again because Clang has gotten me a few times flipping rovers into the air by making tiny adjustments to the hinge while its attached XD
@DR-MCK4YS-GAMING2 жыл бұрын
clang can pop up at any time with hinges and yes I've seen and used the trailer set up a few times I do believe it dose transfer power if the hinges are on but if turned of I'm not sure

A different way to add small-grid 1x1 hinge part to large-grid hinge is to slap a timer block (large or small don't matter), add the hinge your working with to timer with "attach" command then add the timer block in twice with "start countdown" command AND "trigger" command (I've tried just "trigger" but didn't work for me). Anyway trigger the timer & you should hear a rapid chiming sound if you set timer correctly. Frame a 1x1 hinge part in the hinge, don't be surprised if it doesn't work on the 1st try as the hinge part needs to be very close to one of the large hinge prongs (I never remember what side). IF done right you'll have attached your hinge part & the timer can be removed (or reset to use again later)... Just don't forget to stop the timer when done to prevent lag, server friendly thought. Hopefully this helps👍😀

I don’t get it I’m pretty new to the game and I made a vehicle with a mining rig on the back and I wanted to fold it to the top of my car but whenever I change the slider for angle it doesn’t do anything until out of nowhere where it slams into my vehicle and rocks back n forth

without seeing your build its hard to say wats wrong, but just thinking here wats your tourqe set to cause a hinge won't move if its got heavy weight on it but using the tourqe should give the hinge more power to move also when using a hinge on a vehicle its best you use a landing gear to lock to the ground for stability while hinge moves to avoid a clang attack hope this helped

Was a good starter hinge video, what about heavier items like hangar armor block, is there a weight limit or restrictions on a hinge?
@DR-MCK4YS-GAMING Жыл бұрын
if the hinge is struggling to move due to weight up the toque I the control menu on the hinge until it dose move but be carful not to ramp it up to fast or you may invite clang to the party any other questions please do ask

Please show how to quickly and easily connect your cargo rover to your base using hinge or piston etc. or point me to a video please. I am trying to connect my rover to my base to move cargo and this is becoming a nightmare because nothing lines up and the connections are incredibly exacting. I just want to drive up and connect. I thing a double hinge setup that is locked will work? The only other thing I can think is a piston at base or on rover with a top mount with the connectors. The connectors meet via the top of rover instead of back of rover.
@DR-MCK4YS-GAMING Жыл бұрын
have you ever thought about a floor connector also you do know you can adjust the height of your wheels to line up with a large grid connector with a few tweaks on a flat base small grid and large can line up exact.

i dont know if im just being an idiot but A) what is a 'small rotor head' and B) how do i attach it to a large grid rotor?
@DR-MCK4YS-GAMING Жыл бұрын
Once you place a large grid rotor delete the large rotor head then go into the control menu to the rotor menu go down to add small rotor head it will add a small grid head that then allows you to build small grid of large grid
