There are astroids without any ores. They are rare, but I stumble across them quite often. I've tried the 25k detector before, but it makes my game lag. However, it's much easier to find all ores without having to fly around. Occasionally I use the 1k detector for convenience, but there is something enjoyable about going mod-less.

I like the hunt! It's also helpful to design your ships in stages. I always make a hydrogen mining ship first, and a small refinery station that gets torn down when the mobile base is built. Just a sort of way to get by until you get your ores. The cool thing is once you mapped 70+ asteroids that you now know where to find the other ores. Once you do find uranium it will last a long time.. my only complaint is when they decided to make all the pre deposits much smaller... I do like that stone provides iron silicon, nickel, and gravel though. That has made early game a walk in the park. I would say much more important than finding uranium quickly us finding cobalt. I spent an entire day on Triton walking around with a drill, I ended up building a rover with ore detector to finally find cobalt so I could build a cargo container lol. Was tough!

Kind of yes and kind of no. So uranium will not "re-spawn" once you have mined it out of an entire asteroid, you would need to find a new one.
