Bro this format of you not talking and just showing what you do with occasional text; is 100% better than most tutorial vids out there. It's also under 10 minutes which is also important, cos we have to come back to these and finding the same spot is annoying when they are 30 minutes/1hr. You should do tutorials on everything, even the basics.

Thanks to you, over 2 evenings, this xmas holiday, I created 1 completed tread like yours but with a little change for my laziness. :) Just in case anyone is curious, just ONE complete tread/track with wheels, all assembled (not left and right tracks like his example) following this example is about 7300 PCU. That's with mine NOT using the rotor heads down the center to look like 'teeth. LOL. That means, just a simple example like in the end of the video (cockpit, battery and maybe tank driving script) is well over 15000~ PCU. Fun for single player or maybe LAN gaming, but until KEEN comes out with 'proper' custom buildable tank tracks, I guess we have to rely on crazy creative compromises! My 7 year old son and I also enjoyed your other tank track example videos. Keep it up!

Idea for making it easier to build in survival would be to use a rotor/piston and rotate the track frame with the track attached at one point, basically allow the track to wrap around the frame. It could save from the frustration using a separate ship to align the track because the gravity around should be able to do that work for you. Merge blocks may be needed to anchor the track in some places during the flipping process but I think it could work well!

Wow! Best tutorial on making tracks! Thank you so much! One small problem. I can't get the drive sprockets to turn, I think the tracks are just too heavy, and the one I created is even downscaled from yours, but it just will not budge. What are you doing to drive yours? EDIT: Nevermind, I accidentally had the rotors off. Kind of embarrasing

all they would have to do is do computers (not programmable blocks, those are too powerful). They would need to evaluate data from other blocks on the grid like rotor:angle=180360 and have the block execute a command for the grid and we could do walker robots or tanks and many other things

I hope I am not to late for an answer, but what are the binds he uses in the end to make it move. My big problem is that on either track, the rotors don't all spin in the same direction, and was wondering if there was an easier way around it. I have it set up so that the velocity is maxed out, some in positive directions and some in negative directions depending on which way they need to turn. And I control the speed by raising or lowering the torque on each track.

Few hours if you are on normal terrain and im always using damage on :) look at track pieces when they move, they are slowing until they have contact with ground so there is practicaly no collision.
@petrzacharias6622
@petrzacharias6622 3 жыл бұрын

@@josephlane1614 Well, my best version of tracks is this (functionality) all wheels are propelled. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2300486286 but it is more fun to build more realistic tracks with one or two propelled wheel for immersion. So you can stop enemy tank if you disconnect tracks. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2285977163 if you create too long tracks, friction will stop you from turning, so they work only on planets like mars or moon with weak gravity. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2390142277 For me best way to create suspension is not suspension in tracks, but suspend all tracks like wheels on car. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2285673691 Same here steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2389415260 if you can, try to experiment with tracks. Im doin it All the time when im building tracks. steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198088426770/myworkshopfiles/?appid=244850 Tracks in video here are just for demonstration. They are not good. Here is my workshop. Good tracks are not than 6 months old, other tracks are not that good and dont work well like these tracks. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2285663864 I will make these tracks alone, one side. Just like this one steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2300486286

Still easier than repairing real tank tracks in battle

@@Dr.Bluberry tank tracks today come in two half width tracks fused together so they don't immediately give out upon a link breaking on one half track. the biggest flaw of tank tracks is that, whilst they have god tier traction, they are very fragile, which is why they use rubber pads for grip and are not direct metal to the pebble like old tracks

Been wondering how this was done for a long time. Didn't think of the copy/paste aspect. Cheers!

Technically you could make it with drop frames in survival but , pita doesnt quite describe that. Everyone designs complex builds in creative and the builds the bps in survival anyway

It does well if tracks have added wheels on it (blocks, not these with suspension and motor). They have better friction and with better tracks you can climb 45° hills but it dont look that good. If it is made just from blast doors, it will slide even on smaller slopes like ramps etc. Obscales are no problem. You can see that after 14 minutes on that video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJy0cmainJt7f80

This is really cool. I found this really helpful, when you explained how to attach the tracks to the tank. Very well explained manufacturing process. The only thing i want to change is the wheel frame, because of how unstable the design seems, because it seems like its on a pivot, with how close together the wheels are in the middle. It was great overall though, so thank you very much!

Extremely useful for planetary traversal in this game, stock wheels just dont cut it some times with all the pot holes and bumps, I'll use this blueprint wisely!

cant you just use a rotor on the out side of the wheel connected to the track to rotate and pull the track over to the other side to connect it? has that method been tried? if not id be baffled as to how someone can come up with making tank tacks at all let alone figure out how to connect the ends together...
