If you want a bigger survival challenge, you should go to Fizz's server called 'Unfriendly neighboors'.(That's the actual name. I didn't make a mistake in the spelling) No jetpack, limited supplies, some ores are only available on specific planets and the shields mod.

Guardians Vanilla server is one I run. Generally always at 1.0 sim speed, runs great, some common sense rules. Doing mods and plugins to reduce lag and improve performance. No block or PCU limits via admin manager; just some MOTD rules.

Forcemaster2000 no lie, I'm part of the faction, "phosphorus" in chat, that whole base is a wreckage now. 3 people came along a few days ago, made peace so our turrets didn't fire on them and then maybe a day after the events in this video they destroyed everything. 10/10 would get outplayed again

Playing a public multiplayer server is how I learned how to play the game.

What space engineers needs is territory, different factions having claims on different sections of ground, putting up defenses, staging invasions for resource deposits, flags, colors and governments, a 32 man server could have an exiting 6 way faction war, maybe an AI cargo ship crashes and the factions go to war over its capture! Tense ground firefights trying to capture containers and kill the opposition without damaging the loot! Then, the faction on top can build an army and go on the offensive with their newly captured resources! Sense space engineers MP is this stable now, all the game needs is a map, some “claim” ability (based on how much PCU you have there) and a few AI ships that the game already implemented.

The territory could possibly be created in a similar way to how Safe Zones are created? Only limit is your territory can't spread more than 600 or so meters away from any station of your faction and can't intersect an enemy's territory.

Furcilis / true... but this would lead to powerful factions building tons of cheap, 1 or 2 block outposts to stretch their territory. Meaning any new factions would have no land to settle without going to war with a superpower. I like the concept though, maybe a very expensive “claim” block that needs a lot of support structure, meaning that any bases have to actually be bases, not beacons with ownership?

Ok so bassicly i spawned in a public server and spawned in a random ship that was really big and looked like it took a month to build. But my stupid brain mined a hole outside and saw something. So i and i got rid of it and the moment i did the ship started falling to the planet and i left the server.

7:10 I pity those people who used pistons. They dont know that Klang will attack them soon enough. Also, those unknown signals are actually drop crates that have uranium, components, and a button that has a chance to give a customization item for your character if you press it. Some roll by themselves until the button is pushed, others will do different things. They also will explode when there are ~2 seconds left on its timer.

I play on IandLive's server and I must say this recent update is a godsend! Butter smooth play most of the time...although I killed my buds ship via a random clang without pistons (my luck usually). I have maybe 4K hours in this game and most exclusively MP on public servers. (Pro Tips) The thing you did with the starter ship is totally not what to do. FIrst you need to make a pair of merge blocks. One on the surface and one on the ship ramp to merge it so you don't lose it if you die/disconnect. Second to do is turn off all the not needed stuff; gyro, program block, thrusters, refinery, timer block, ore detector and reactor (Yes! Save that U for a small miner!). Then you grind those down (except refinery), as well as the windows and build a small battery/solar powered mine ship. From there you mine and upgrade your ship into a base or build out a new ship or etc. Survival is particularly fun when you are on a 1x1x1x server. Takes literal hours to do small things. Also, do not hesitate to pirate as many resources are yours for the plundaring. -Noganite

2 years later and a few network physics glitch bugs persist on the Keen servers making them very unforgiving to wheeled builds. Every so often the severs suffer a bad hick up and your character or ground vehicle will glitch through the ground and be permanently lost.

the problem with survival in SE is that you have to have the tools at the start, if you run out of energy, then you are fucked. most games either give you a kinetic tool like a ax or wrench that is very inefficient to gather materials and then you can build stuff that is more efficient. SE survival says "here is all the tools, grind down the ship and you have your base" so not really survival.

What's left of the Space Engineers public community is pretty much good people. When the game goes on sale all the combat random griefers play for a bit, realize there's too much work for one attack and they quit and what's left is generally good people more interested in building and setting up actual fights instead of RDMs.
