You can improve your utility ship by putting the other set of tools (grinders) in the back, have a remote controller facing backward (Install it over the gyros) then putting it on your hotbar of the cockpit. When you want to grind stuff just control the remote controller and the grinders become the front of the ship

just a note on the grinder ship. replace straight tube sections with cargo modules. you want all the capacity you can get.

The Industrial Cockpit has always been my favorite go to for ship building, sure it doesn’t have the large connector that the normal cockpit has but the window. Perfect.

You should turn those tanks into a fuel truck so you can shuttle hydrogen between bases

In space, I always found it easier to put a grinder (or a few) on the base/mothership, and then build a tug to gently push wreaks into them. This lets you hold onto the wreak, and the grinders feed directly into your main cargo network, which removes the need for drop off trips. Since you went with a grinder ship approach, you can always just put a mag plate on the base to hold wreaks while you grind them. Then again, your thruster mod makes using a tug more complicated, so a grinder ship may be the better solution in this case.

I kinda wanna see him get space jacked, see how he dogfights the Spector, using the grinders to attack the thrusters, narrowly missing a kamikaze run on the big lander, & the guy gets away in a flying saucer mini pod thing, all "I'll get U next time!!!!".

All you have to do is attach a control seat and convert your salvage to a station, that way it shouldn't fly away.

For space I tend to go right to large grid ion welder ships. The welding reach makes it SO much better.

Converting your target grind your going to grind into a station, saves on the parts flying everywhere, and yes I know it's cheaty but Keen needs to prevent blocks phasing through each other.

I always install event controllers and timers on my small ships that turn off all engines when docking and set the batteries to charge. When the connector is released, everything is automatically switched back on and batterie to auto.

you could remove the grinders from the front and use connectors to make it change tools in the front.

Due to the mod that creates realistic thrust imbalance effects, and the fact that the salvage had a connector and conveyors on it, I'm surprised you didn't hand a couple of pipes and the connector on the front tank and tow the assy with your rear connector.

If you think about it a little energy is a valuable resource so it woul make sense that there would be ships and stations dedicated to that role Not only are they producing power, they're storing it and a massive amount of it

You should blueprint the ship replace the grinders with drills you have a miner when blueprint the miner then replace the drills with welders then blueprint the welder so just in case you get attacked or crash you have another one on hand

Just curious, you mentioned that your O2/H2 generators would waste power, did you install a mod (E.g. keyspace's "No More Free Energy") that makes the O2/H2 gens use more power than vanilla? Also, what thruster mod are you using? So far, I found Knsgf's "Thruster physics & Differential throttling" to be the most powerful

I believe its the no free energy mod. I've tried Kanajashi's scenario and power is a real problem once using h202 gens. The grub savage ships with 1-2 full h2 tanks make it alot easier. You need to be lucky though for it to spawn.

there are mods that add conveyor options with small grid having all sides with large port... not sure how heavy your mod load is this run...

I think grinders on the back would be better since welding is going to be done to valuable blocks you want to save. If the rear thrust toasts what you're grinding you'll be less sad.
