actually if you pay close attention too the ship design you will notice that they are ALL star wars based, even a Hammerhead frigate is in the background of the huge rover. The design gives of a Mos Eiesly vibe which it was likely based off of(P.S inside the hanger with the tank you might notice a Jedi Starfighter)

That train design is ingenious, I have been coming back here for weeks now trying to study it somewhat :D I love it. The idea to build the wheels on their own little carts, almost, and have the wagons placed on that allows for a mobility you just couldn't replicate another way in SE (at least without the ability to control wheels on subgrids).

Westwoods Dune 2 came in to mind when I saw this. Base building mechanic was packed with tightly positioned structures, walls, and concrete slabs. Plus the mobile command-center vehicle sort of reminded me of an MCV from that game :)

haha i remeber when Xocli had a server of like 50+ people in this base, we ended up all drilling down a big hole, it was a massive stress test and the clang was insane.

Barley Sixseventwo you can attach small Gatling guns, which have the best damage per cubic meter per second, into a large ship with like 6 layers of heavy armor. Or you can glitch rotor heads at your enemies at 100m/s with a cost of literally nothing per shot

This reminds me of an idea: Get 10 players with rifles and put them against a small Group of people with rovers. Let the people set up a base within 5 minute and see who wins, man or machine

This base is incredible, there's some truly talented engineering and a lot of hard work gone into it... but it's 90% transportation around itself. It's cool and everything- perhaps a proof of concept for a massive complex, large enough to need a train system, a road system, and a monorail system- but everything else it does could be done by a base 10% of the size, which would be small enough to just walk around.

the cable car might be a good way to get overhead access, it doesnt use pistons or deformable blocks my initial thought was as a way to have downwards facing interior turrets that you can access to reload, but such a system can be vulnerable, however it may be more useful as a working platform

Titanfall is the perfect universe for inspiring SE builds. The structures are blocky with simple colors and patterns, and much of the story is focused on colonizing planets, building infrastructure/facilities, multipurpose large or small ships, and pilots/engineers with jetpacks.

@@jonasxspace Perhaps a gravity generator on every yellow-painted wall could offer limited wallrunning (just enough gravity to give a player the ability to run at a tilted angle on the surface). Large ships could also be used for a Titan drop, and Titans would most likely have thrusters like the Northstar class for feasible mobility. Ships, drones, drop-pods, and even Ticks could make for interesting combat and survival scenarios. Titanfall batteries are in fact uranium generators, and there are even interior turrets in the Titanfall 2 campaign. Lastly, if someone were to recreate Typhon with its shattered moon, varied biomes, and facilities/stations, it would be a beautiful planet, but undoubtably difficult to run.

moderate this wouldn't be a feasible build in a regular server because of people being able to have an orbital strike wipe it out. But on a mad max server where noone is flying around it would be pretty shweet

I think the coolest bases are those that are built into the environment. As in, digging into a mountain to just have the hangar door visible from the outside, maybe even with some clever positioning and so on to hide said hangar door. even better, but hard to build in survival, i guess: a vertical hangar that your hovercraft can fly out of and with some sort of elevator for rovers.

idea: you have two teams, one defending and one attacking, attacker's goal is to break into the base and steal a space capable escape ship. defender's goal is hold out for X amount of time then take the ship for themselves.

That train bridge is a major flaw. Destroying that would take out a pretty vital supply line insanely quickly. Then, you would just be restricted to the road, because the monorail is also an easy target. The road can easily be destroyed from fighters and bombers as well.

No flight. Take it down to basic rovers. I love the server Idea. But, sometimes you need to change the dynamic a bit. I think it would be cool to enable flight, but make it super rare and difficult to attain. Only allow Hydrogen-powered flight and ratchet way up the difficulty to attain. So difficult, it is nerfed to a point it makes no sense to do. Well, that makes no sense then does it? Sure does. The fear factor, a tactical advantage, a goal to accomplish. Don't nerf fuel expenditure, people will just put huge tanks on their ships. Don't nerf the power the refinery takes either, people will just build enough power generation to get over the limitations. Use mods that can mess with the ratio of Hydrogen you get with Ice. If the limitation is on the ratio of Ice to Hydrogen, then they need to move massive quantities of raw ice, spend long times refining, have dozens of refineries, and that refining uses loads of power. Tons of ice to get liters of Hydrogen. Nerf it to the point that basic flight is like walking on the moon. That way, you will be in awe and fear anyone that has the capability. Flight will be limited to small block ultralight craft used for short periods of time. The bigger the craft, the shorter the range, and the more likely it will not make it back to base. Even the limitations bring an advantage when in a mostly flightless server. An ability to scout. An ability to transfer goods or personel without being harassed. Ability to drop explosives from beyond weapons range. An ability to pick up small wrecked vehicles and bring them back for salvage.

I love the idea of this but a couple of things are bothering me. The hydraulic lifts for ingress into the fortification means if the mechanism is comprised and they lose hydraulic pressure or power, how do you get in and out? I guess you could use air lifts in and out, but what if you don't have air superiority and can get resupplied by air? The towers aren't placed optimally. They should be in the corners so you can give protective fires onto each side of the walls so they can't be scaled. Having them in the centers of the walls leaves undefended spaces. Sloped walls of those angles would also allow for easier scaling. Just take ideas from the Spanish fortification in St Augustine, Florida. How do you defend the mono-rail system when it's just a span between two sections? I realize you can just run them in reverse, but why leave your flow of beans and bullets up too such an ill-defended transportation system? Sorry peeps, it's just 31 years of Miltary service coming out!

@@jonumine6250 Tbh I've found that bunkers are less practical than a well defended surface outpost. An outpost on the surface requires the enemy to engage directly whereas a bunker is susceptible to warhead tunnlers from all directions
