Well They could, but: A) there will be problems a simple computer can't solve- humans still haven't cracked how thoughts work and machines, even now, don't have capabilities to make concious decisions like humans. B) Developing such shits are more expensive than doing it the 40K servitor way, but the one inside is not lobotomized before hand. TLDR: it's expensive plus machines can't make decisions that would benefit the mission, hop on in the spacecoffin Timmy- mankind "will remember you"

@@masterzoroark6664 well... no... it's fun for the setting but not fun and practical in reality, first humans are more squishy than electronics, if we can protect the human, we would think that we can protect the electronic better, think starlink sattelites, Also a democratic nation (shown last of the video, "election cycle", would prioritize NOT sending humans, although it could happen in a twisted society or a critically endangered society,) and unless it is done by an unscrutable organization(oceangate uhem), you would also think it has backups and has auxillary life support or emergency life support where we flash hybernate the person if the life support is endangered.... Also for power, why not tap a little bit of the fractional lightspeed engines,? Actually now that i think about it, yeah, this is an oceangate grade starship

@@theeyeofomnipotent welp. outside of these- dunno, we don't know about the universe of the game (If it's set up in the same one as Wrought Flesh and Endoparasitic then some shit is happening behind scene) Still, if there was a reason to put a human instead of a cpu- there is something far more complex expected that a computer wouldn't solve. Otherwise it's just Servitor based cruelity like 40K

@@masterzoroark6664 in the game it is quite simple..., maybe there is some cosmic horror that cause specifically complex computers to fail... while sparing biologically complex computers, the universe is being racist lol Though with all this settings, one wonders, why is there only cosmic horrors and no "cosmic angels", one form of cosmic angel can be written as this, angelarium of revolt: power breaker, for we can fight anything and succeed no matter how powerful and different we are, like a character defeating the writer or an atom defeating an ontological concept, it is the force behind instability and imperfection, for something truly good cannot be forced in anyway We may create a character, but that character may just be an existence making itself exist through us, probably and vise versa, In some sense power itself is not intrinsically good, it forces something upon another consciousness afterall Well idk if there is other angels that can aid us lol, perhaps meta- is another one, self referential, self awareness, idk hehe

almost all of them where in the game, the few ones I recognized where the sun, saturn, Jupiter, venus and I think europa or io i can't remember which one of the two had the robotic like sounds(i think it was io) but I could recognize it was one of the moons. But accurately enough the sun sound was related to another sun. Saturn was less accurate since it was related to a blue celestial body without any rings. Jupiter's sounds where related to the planet on the title screen which is extremely similar to Jupiter. Venus was related to a grayish planet that was really small on the navigation screen so it was also accurate. Except for the sounds of io/europa(again cannot remember well) they where placed on planets instead of moons-

So far all planets from the solar system have been recorded including pluto and a few moons from jupiter, Saturn and even our moon. Some sounds like the ones recorded by NASA are in the game which where the ones I mentioned. But if you'd like to hear a fun fact, one of the first american astronauts to reach the moon described through the radio that they can hear some sounds in space, coincidentally they described it has a "boom boom" almost like a heartbeat.

Given how long file decryption takes, your part in all this takes about 20 years minimum, possibly significantly longer if we assume you aren't arriving at new locations right as the 3 year timer finishes. It's a nice touch about how ludicrously vast space is. The first manned ship to leave our solar system will need to be a generational ship most likely.

I don't know about generational ships, I think us curing/reversing aging, gene modifying ourselves to resist the space radiation (and other bad space effects like muscle atrophy), adding a "hibernation cycle" like in bears and building in human photosynthesis is a way more viable strategy for space travel and also way easier to do, if the current advancement speed in biotech is anything to go by. While the ending concept was a fun bit, I think an infinitely more terrifying horror concept would be waking up from hibernation and your little computer screen not turning on, or being unresponsive. Especially in that little fucking coffin. Especially since it seems to be nourishing your body automatically, since there's no room for food or anything, and you're like... strapped in with no tools or anything. Imagine waking up to it being unresponsive and just knowing that you won't even get the option to turn off life support. How long can it keep you alive? Especially if you start thinking about how they'd probably build it so you couldn't break out, intentionally or otherwise, or hurt yourself. So your body is being sustained indefinitely, but you don't even have a fucking *window*.

The note about mimicry makes me believe that "planet" at the end is actually the creature itself, not just the lure. The "worm" extending out from it at 38:03 is possibly its tongue or a grapple grabbing your ship. Also I like to believe that the note about how a cell can look like a supernova, or our eyes like a nebula, implies that perhaps the entire galaxy is part of an infinitely large organism. The creature could be something like a white blood cell that patrols and kills any foreign organism. The Magella and to a lesser extent the MC's mission is to find habitable planets to colonise. In other words, their ships are like foreign organisms invading the area to help humanity spread like a cancer.

In other words, this game could be a representation of the "Great Filter" theory. Something that stops different species from ever abandoning their planet to colonize others. If the universe is a giant body, then travelling through it to spread would indeed be like a cancer or sickness, so this "white cell" gets activated and deals with the threat before the rest of the body can be harmed by all the germs/defective cells. Thus, the Great Filter in action.

Listen, I know that I’m just some random person on the internet but I might be able to give you some advice. I work in private security and I know for a fact that every security company out there is *always* hiring. Sure the job may not always be glamorous, but it’s usually pretty easy and the pay is okay. If nothing else it might be a good place to land for a bit while you look for another job? Anyway, it’s just a suggestion. Stay excellent, my friend! :)

Ironically, iron lung would work for both games as they both involve exploring the unknown while stuck in what essentially is a metal box. The only difference is that in iron lung, the vesicle has to deal with outside pressure while this one has to deal with inside pressure.

I was wondering when we'd get a new game from the Endoparasitic dev! We're now one step closer to Manly playing Voices of the Void. Though that's really more of a stream game than a KZbin game, though it'd be cool to see Manly play it.

I think the main difficulty will be to think of something new. There are actually quite a lot of cosmic horror concept. So it might difficult to create something new and not predictable.

@@samuraijackson241 agreed, cosmic horror is all about how "this works different from how it makes sense" and the implications of it all, so once it starts making sense it's not that scary, thus you constantly have to invent new concepts. Each of Lovecraft's "gods" was different and had a concrete purview and power it reigned over, it's hard to do that without overlapping or getting silly.

I really love the submarine-style of games. While it is cumbersome to play, the metaphor always hits pretty hard. And when you think about it, that is how our brain works. Protected in a tomb of bone, scanning our surroundings with imperfect tools and slowly losing control over them over time.

_Governmental obfuscation is the real horror_ Everyone is always afraid of what's in the ocean depths - there's a heck of a lot more in space no one has seen. Space is a bigger threat. I liked this game, obviously inspired by Iron Lung but with a cool twist. Balancing power reserves, hearing radio signal and taking photos only to realize planets seemed to be screaming like at 15:41 or were only shells.

something I noticed that nobody comments on is that you are never specified to be human. None of the files say human. Sure, there are snapping turtles, but in an infinite universe, two things are almost guaranteed to be the same. The mimics could well be the great filter. Nothing has interstellar travel long enough to come and visit, nor radio signals, since those would attract the mimics eventually. We are alone, not because there is nobody out there, but leaving your home planet or looking for others by shooting radio signals is a death sentence, even if it does take millennia to happen. (Spoiler for Dead Space 3) It's almost like the Brethren Moons. They trick intelligent life into exploring, looking for someone else, find the Markers, integrate them into their tech, and eventually become the Necromorphs and turn into a Brethren Moon themselves. Or, perhaps more favourably, become food for one.

What you should have done on the last mission was lock your course in on navigation, then go into the power menu, turn off life support, turn on thrusters while keeping navigation on, go back to navigation and hit "travel". Less time with the life support off if you lock in your course before you turn life support off. Unless it forgets your destination every time you leave the navigation menu? Edit: you figured that out at the very end and didn't even need to turn life support off! Great!
