Space Invaders was the second arcade game I remember playing. (Sprint driving game was the 1st, but did not hook me on arcade games) Playing this iconic was the gateway for me. I played it in a pub my Dad took me to. Just got a reproduction of Pepsi Invaders for my Atari 7800. Takes me back to the simpler times of 8 bit aliens and cola wars. I thank this KZbinr for the great job on showing so many versions

Okay, so I didn't have time to watch a 40 minute retrospective, but I did watch 11 minutes, which is 11 minutes more than I thought I'd watch. That's a compliment of sorts. Honestly, this was pretty impressive. Super professional.

That is great to hear. Thank you! Hope you get time to watch the rest of it :)

KZbin recommended this to me right as I started replaying Extreme on the DS. Oddly convenient timing, but I won't complain, this is really well made and deserves more recognition!

I have the Gameboy Colour version and boy do I love it. To me it was a great game to pass the time with. And the music is a banger.

This was an exceedingly fun watch. This was a great way to see how the utilized on nostalgia while sometimes doing bit of innovation too.

Great video! I really hope it gets more views and I intend on showing it in my social groups. I made my own Space Invaders retrospective recently and found this through the Recommended Videos. Thanks for covering Extreme, Extreme 2 and Get Even! I unfortunatley was not able to nab Get Even before the ability to add points was disabled from the Wii E-Shop. By the way, 95 is my favorite game in the series, so it DOES have it's fans out there!!

I wish they included some of these games in the space invaders invincible collection. Amazing video :p

Agreed, I feel like the collection is kinda lacking a little. No Lunar Loonies, even.

All the major ones, I think. There were a few spin-offs I missed, and of course a million and one clones and knockoffs. Thanks for watching :D

rewatching this again and… u predicted it! Moon Base Zeta showed up in a compilation on xbox pretty recently! not 50th anniversary but still. i think some other unauthorized version, “Space King” was included too
@braxiations78688 ай бұрын
also, note on space invaders revolution which i replayed recently, the touch screen isn’t useless! if you accumulate enough total points in the classic mode you unlock power ups that can be expended for energy in each round (that’s what the blue meter is in the bottom left.) it’s really weird that it’s not mentioned anywhere in-game, but it makes some of the annoying levels a lot easier. really weird decision though

I adore Space Invaders Extreme. I even went ahead and pay the huge shipping costs to have the paddle which was only released in Japan.

Oh, I would LOVE to have the paddle. Hard to find these days, though!

I think there would be more appreciation for The Attack of Lunar Loonies in light of how many other Space Invaders games otherwise tend to be pretty similar to the 1978 game, perhaps a little too similar. Hahah.

On reflection, it feels a bit like Taito's answer to Galaga '88

Looks like two Japanese releases weren't mentioned, the Famicom port of the arcade game, as well as the Saturn port.

Really great video!! Good to see some thorough attention for these games from someone who's clearly an actual fan! But it's been 5 years... where's the infinity gene video???
@BrokenCircus Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your kind comment! As for Infinity Gene, it is about time it got a proper look, huh? When I can get my Xbox 360 set up again, I'll give it a bash.

First licensed game was Midway Winner, a Pong variant in early 73. Try again.

While I appreciate the information, I'm not sure your suggestion of remaking an entire five-year-old video from scratch just for that is entirely warranted

worst thing about this video is that it has a little bit of views

This is the tragedy of the KZbin algorithm, unfortunately. Got to rely on word-of-mouth these days more than ever. Nevertheless, I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for commenting!
