Starcraft: Ghost was supposed to be their first foray into third-person action shooters back then, though it was more a stealth action game. Sadly never materialized, and they just had Nova Terra appear as a character in Starcraft 2 instead. Considering that Starcraft was originally conceived as a Warhammer 40K game, having a third-person shooter in the style of Space Marine would actually be amazing. I mean you already have "classes" you can use like you can be the standard Marine, a heavy Marauder, a Firebat, a Reaper, or a Ghost.

Made by the people who did WWZ which is one of my favorite horde shooter games. The zombie/horde physics were amazing in that game and i see from clips that it looks like they continued that. The way mass amounts of enemies flow almost like water as they rush you. Praise the omnissiah.

It looks fun, but... $60 for a 6 hour campaign and 6 co-op missions that you can finish in a weekend? Is that really where we're at with AAA games now? Also, the melee combat looks super floaty. There's no weight to the swings and the character kind of just awkwardly slides between enemies.

@@provaricus627 The missions have no replay value. The AI director does very little to make each run feel different. You can only play the same missions with the same scripted encounters so many times. Besides, we said the same thing about Helldivers for months and look what happened. 95% of the player base is gone and one of the main complaints, besides devs balancing the game like it's a competitive shooter, is that there's no progression after level 25 and all the different currencies and upgrade systems besides super credits become meaningless. People need things to work towards if you want them to stick around long term.

Thanks for taking the time to break down what's fun and interesting in the game mechanically. It's something that's make or break for me when it comes to games and not enough reviewers spend time analyzing these kinds of details, at least not enough beyond what the basic options are. What matters is how those mechanics relate to the overall feeling of the game and if it's both providing a satisfying experience and nailing the fantasy the game tries to give.

Really glad to see people are having a great time with it. I completed campaign and co op operations in about 8 hours. Missions vary at about 10-15 minutes if you know what you’re doing. For me - it was average at best. Nothing new, nothing exciting. Nothing I haven’t seen or played before. Fun factor dipped at the poorly designed objectives, repetitive gameplay, and hit and miss parry and counter mechanics. Combat gets messy very quickly, especially melee combat. Just my opinion though. Playing the same 6 co op missions gets boring very quickly.

The game is receiving with more content updates (missions and new enemies) for free. Absolutely worth 60$ compared to 70$ trash release long today.

Thank you very much for this instructive review. I don't like shooters but loved Gears of war 1. Here, it's wider, more spectacular, has depth in its gameplay and is more than probably harder. It's a shame that the teammates' I.A. is a mess as I only play solo. I don't trust myself considering how on-line gaming can get you addicted. Thanks also for the I.A. and solo remarks.

i only played the intro/first mission last night and i have to say... wow, this game is great. best part is that i can run the game in 1080p Ultra quality presets in my RX 7600, it does look beautiful.

The health stims are a bit too sparse imo. And in the beginning, the only way to get shields back is being Uber aggressive. Not every player likes to play that way.

Honestly if you're not diving in you wont be taking enough damage to warrant the stims if you are good enough to dodge projectiles and space well, it rewards defensive playstyles quite well ive found as the largest weapons also take your melee slot while also letting melee players keep themselves alive

co op missions lack a good AI director like darktide. levels are really short compared to campaign levels. they need to release a game+ that lets you play campaign with classes after beaten for the first time. me being a mainly darktide player, i was very disappointed, but thats what i get for pre ordering. they are gonna release 1, just 1 ,co op map in the near future. the scripted enemy encounters really bore me

Sadly, Coop does not work on PS5 right now. Aside from the first mission and one operation I can't join anyone, and others can't join me. I hope they fix that soon. The gameplay however is amazing.

Honestly my biggest complaint with combat is the sound que for a parry attack and Unblockable isnthe SAME. Game trains you to parry to a sound que, but also to dodge for the same que. I know that's very nit picky but I wish it had a different que.

They’d have to redo a lot of stuff for some of them with sections that wouldn’t work, so I doubt it. A lot of specefic sections with certain weapons or requiring the jetpack, so I imagine they’ll just make new ones nixing existing assets and new ones.

i find the game solid and fun but honestly i expected way more. the gunplay dont feels satisfying aside from the cool dogde counter shot, the pvp is trash (boring maps/unbalanced classes/TTK is horrible low) and the lack of customization options we already had in space marine 1 is huge bummer. its also very grindy because you dont get much rewards (exp/currenzy) 7/10

People complaining about the campaign length is kinda sad.The combat loop is so satisfying. This is a game that is just the whole package with PvE and PvP content at launch which is rare nowadays. Why not reward developers who put out a quality game? Why keep giving money to developers who release barebones games with battlepasses and paid cosmetics? I'm glad to give them my money on luanch so that other developers follow suit.

It's a good game, but it shouldn't be $60. Full price for a 6 hour campaign and 6 co-op missions you can finish in a weekend and which have no replay value after finishing them on the highest difficulty just isn't justifiable in my mind, especially considering we're only getting one new mission in the near future and horde mode is many months away. An amazing core gameplay loop only gets you so far. The game desperately needs more content if they want people to stick around for longer than a month. Also, mark my words, in 6 months people are going to be hating on this game the same way they are Helldivers. Always happens once the honeymoon phase wears off.

Bolt gun got the feeling more on point to me. The game doesn’t feel as nice as the first one. The gun play is nice. The hack and slash combat is bad. The multiplayer armour editor is a farce compared to what we got in the first one aswell. Waiting for beaky helmets and angry grill helmets

Primaris don't have the grill helmet, and they probably won't add the Corvus pattern helmet either, unless there is a Raven Guard DLC or something.

I was so looking forward to SM2 but firstly, out of principle, I will have nothing to do with Epic games and secondly these days I play exclusively single player (I don't even know two people who would buy this tbh) and refuse point blank to play pugs with randos just to grind some pointless skills. So the short campaign with crappy AI and a heft £50-60 price tag have killed it for me.
