Here's my 2 cents. People keep screaming that the "raw" power of the PS5 Pro should offer a much more stable experience and higher frame rate than the PS5 and Series X. That's not an outrageous way of thinking by any means. I have the PS5 Pro but I'm also a PC gamer with a 4090 GPU in my build. Raw power just isn't enough anymore. And I say that because I have the most powerful GPU on the market which costs almost three times as much as a PS5 pro and without Nvidia Game Ready driver updates, most games don't run that great until there's a patch for the GPU. Stalker 2 is a great example. It ran like hot garbage on my 4090 before I downloaded the latest game ready driver Nvidia update. Which brings me to my point that raw power just doesn't cut it anymore. So for all the people saying that this is sonys fault and the Pro isn't worth it has no idea the frustrations of being a PC gamer when you spend double to triple that amount on just the graphics card and games still don't run well.

Spoken by a true rig owner. Got a 4090 set up myself. Mainly just use it for graphical work in unreal etc . What i love about the PlayStation 5 pro is , I can chuck it in a backpack 🎒 & take it around to family & friends. PC 🖥. Nooo chance 😂

The Switch, for example, may be a Fisher Price toy by comparison of high-end PCs, but it's popular because of easy of use, the cheaper price, and the convenience being a handheld and home system. A parent of two can buy a Switch with Mario Party and/or Kart and controls for each family member for a fraction of a high end PC.

Hey they've just announced that the December Update will include the pro patch. Both modes will come with higher internal dynamic res and will use pssr instead of fsr...let's hope for stable fps and no problems with pssr...

There are areas later in the game that are extremely CPU limited where Digital Foundry showed the PS5 dipping into the mid 30’s and the XSX was in the mid to high 40’s but nobody is showing those areas when testing PS5 pro performance. Seeing as the CPU is only 10% faster when the developer decides to unlock that extra performance at a very tiny GPU cost, I’d expect the PRO do dip just about as much. The only way around that is a PRO patch that optimizes better for the CPU. 🤷🏼‍♂️

This is my biggest annoyance with a lot of Tech KZbinrs, e.g. the S24 Exynos EU Version, almost noone went into the 5G connectivity tests that showed big differences and worse performance compared to the S24 Snapdragon US Version. Higher temps + lower battery life is just a huge slap in the consumer's face when both versions cost the same. Now with games similar things are happening. KZbinr's must show high CPU and high GPU areas to make a good comparison. I would love to see real stress tests when comparing different Consoles.

These numbers dont seem in line with the testing from many other outlets and channels, particularly the numbers shown between base PS5 and Series X. Is there any commentary as to why that is the cause?

Most outlets (especially Digital Foundry) tend to highlight the heaviest areas of the game. This would not be indicative of the average state of play. I'd say on average the PS5 and Series X would perform pretty much the same, it's just the PS5 is hit harder in those very CPU intense moments.

Ye as I mentioned. Since the big C came along a few years ago my job became home based. I work at my desk all day at home, i can’t stand sitting at it gaming on the pc now. I am fortunate enough to have a man cave with a big screen, ps, Xbox and cinema seating. The majority of gaming goes on in there now. Darktide will drop in a week to which is released with the pro update..and All I’m really noticing at the moment with the pro is the image quality..as playing games in full 4k you can clearly see the difference is much better with the same frames as performance 👍

the difference is much better? every time we see proof of that it comes in way of a 3x zoomed picture to even see a difference between PS5 and PS5 Pro...maybe telling yourself that it's better is just making you pay attention more where's before it was blending into the norm. Someone did a test with SM2 gave him controller didn't tell him what was the PS5 and what was Pro when he picked the one he thought was the best one he picked PS5 because he thought it looked sharper and the suit looked better and SM2 was the game Sony showed off with the Pro.

This game is CPU heavy with all the ai horde tech. The Pro didn't get an upgraded CPU, so it makes sense that there wouldn't be much of a performance boost.

just use the HDR calibration tool from the microsoft store. in addition to that you just can't copy HDR settings. you have to use the settings which fit your screen!

My friend. It is not possible to support 60 frames per second on the pro, but it is possible to approach the target of 60 or higher. So the 3700x outputs 53-83 frames per second ~ the console APU couldn't be better.

I bought this particular version for SX as I banked on the more powerful hardware and I have just ordered it for my PS5 Pro as that is now the best way to play it outside of a PC (I'm on a PC all day I just prefer gaming on console), the SX version is far superior to the base PS5 but it's still a great looking game on the PS5 as well, regarding the PS5 Pro, I would recommend it to anyone with a spare few quid but more importantly a good TV 📺, definitely if it's a 120htz display, VRR is essential, with a standard 4k stick with the base.

this game is limited by the cpu. There are areas in the game where fps can drop below 40. in ps5 pro only gpu is improved. so stable 60 fps will not be possible unless they fix the bottleneck of the processor. considering that there are many aliens on the screen in one frame, fixing the bottleneck of the processor will be difficult. most likely in the game there will not be locked 60 fps on ps5 pro even after the patch. I think the higher resolution is all that the PS5 Pro will offer.

Warhammer Darktide would be a very good comparison to do XSX vs PS5 pro. It just released on ps5 and has a pro patch. Unfortunately the ps5 version doesn’t have a brightness setting and will be added Dec 3rd in day one patch.

You again mentioned improvements in The Last of Us 1 and 2, Horizon Forbidden West, Stellar Blade.. But PSSR looks good because the base PS5 not even using FSR. So it's a similar case to FF7 and others. The PC versions that use FSR demonstrate that PSSR isn't that much better. If FSR was used originally on the base PS5, the difference wouldn't be big. So we're not actually praising the superiority of the Pro but praising the poor graphics in the original version. And that's a big difference.

I think this is not really true. Digital Foundry, which is honestly the only one now that I really trust in this kind of analysis, said multiple times that PSSR is actually much closer to DLSS than to FSR, that there is a pretty big picture quality advance VS even the latest version FSR. Also many of the games you mention, like Last of Us of HFW had temporal upsampling methods far superior than FSR already, but they were still further improved with PSSR. Also: in the end the "promise" of the PS5 Pro was simple: you will be able to play at a graphical quality of the "fidelity mode" which runs at 30fps on PS5 standard, but at 60 fps. This promise was pretty much always met and in many case even surpassed: we have games where you play at 60fps and you get BETTER quality than the quality mode at 30 fps on the non-pro PS5, and on top you get also additional modes like "super fidelity" at 30 fps with Ray Tracing or so, even in games that previously had no ray tracing modes. Overall I would say PS5 Pro did much better than promised, at least in the games where support is there, buggy games aside (AW2, SH2) etc.. which are well expected early adopters shenanigans.

It looks good in some games, not so much in others." I like how the narrative went from "60 fps", to "being close to 60 fps". Aghh, i hate other PS5 pro owners, close is not good enough. 50 is not good enough. I regret my purchase. I'm not exactly bashing the youtuber, but more so every other PS5 pro owner who has said the same thing. One in particular who actually said that was "great"- 50 fps. Changed the definition of " great". Honey moon phase is crazy and has stuck around longer then i thought. I don't think the upgrade justifys the price. Personally i don't want to just settle for what it is, i want a "Significant improvement", that would shut everyone up, and impress. It's not really doing that.

Interesting to see XSX drop so much when i watched DF video it was almost 60fps all the time while PS5 was 45fps not it's a neck and neck race with your testing......interesting. Also you mentioned Silent Hill issues but forgot 3 others that PSSR is a problem too. You paint a picture like for the most part PS5 Pro is worth it but in reality it's proved to be more problematic then anything else minor improvement to games that already look good anyway and you can't even tell without 3x zoomed in picture. All for the low price of $915 then stand and a disk drive to buy after. The PS6 is going to be $1000 and your supporting that with the PS5Pro glazing because you got the PS5Pro cheaper than 90% of everyone else

You can decide if the video is valid to draw conclusions. If it is, then PS5Pro boost only improves 1-5 fps🤗

The real deal for PS5 Pro is PSSR. If a game is not updated to it (like this one) it's gonna be a increase of 10/15 fps, more stabillity and if the game works with dinamic resolution, Pro will keep in the maximum limit most of the time.

It's great it's 60fps and within the VRR range now. This is one of those PC/Series X DX12 game ports that are pretty heavy on the CPU. PS5 always has less fps in these sorta ports.

The patches don't magically provide performance. They provide presets, many of which have performed worse or look worse than PS5 base titles so far.

@@leonfrancis3418that is absolutely not the case… it unlocks the full power of the console, and gives the developers a chance to either add new visual modes, change visual modes, or just max out the horsepower and give us no options but the best option of the two. It’s up to the developers to make the decision of what they want to do. But without a patch it’s literally just running at a higher power level but not using the full extent of the console
