Sultan from ‪@SultanPlays40k‬ is back and this time he's breaking out the Guard. And in a strange turn of events I decided to run Space Marines against him - cos I painted some new stuff and wanted to play with them.

I’ve been thinking about it for a while, and I think the one thing I really appreciate is the hand cam and narration done by Mr. Winters. It makes watching games so much more interesting and feel that much more dynamic. Cheers!

I've tried watching other war gaming chanels with more production but only Winter has me coming back regularly, its the naration, the chill, the friendships especially when he does stuff with his inner circle like sultan, and yes having a more dinamic camera compared to the static one make it better. I hoping he will get to do something with sayhipaul again because narrative wise they are fantastic together.

Sultan's guard inspired me to collect guard. Even used his idea of using Jackals to make rough riders. So happy to see the Vorkanis back on the channel, even if some warp trickery had them pitted against the glorious 13th... Or maybe this is an exercise organised by the Lord Solar himself to test their mettle. Either way, a glorious board and two glorious armies.

Creed cant use her strategem ability on tanks. Has to be regiment units. This was a really good battle report otherwise. Solid lists but not meta. That terrain layout was brilliant. Very enjoyable watch.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the castallen does not have scout, so the kasirkin can’t scout move with him attached, also the Rogal Dorns ability is before the save roll.

As far as I know you can't reduce damage when applying the damage, you have to do it before you roll the save. Correct me if I'm wrong

Seems like they aren't used to playing with scout, it's an easy mistake to make. They also didn't realise or forgot that castellan removes Scout on the unit he leads since he doesn't have it. Still an enjoyable game, more of a friendly theme game than competitive.

@@nestorw8439 agreed on their greatness! For me the Scout thing isn't that uncommon since I have scout (Catachans and sentinels) and my opponents often infiltrate to block my scouting. 😁

D6 attacks and damage are way too swingy, theyve mostly gone away from it but every time a weapon comes up that has it it somehow ALWAYS rolls min shots or min damage. The amount of times ive gotten multiple KMB shots through on something only to do like 4 damage overall is alarming lol.....

However If it wasnt for the Votann and their upcoming releases i really dont think i would be playing 10th edition. 10th just hasnt got any soul. Im going back to 3rd and 4th to play my eldar and 9th for Space Marines and Necrons and that due to some of the models being 9th and 10th only models.

You can as long as they’re not blocking Line of Sight, the Glad is a big lumpy thing so you might be able to see through some marines, but not a tank

How do you paint whiteheads? I have a hard time with the white

Keep the white paint thinned down, and be prepared for multiple coats (usually 4+). Take your time with it and its really not that hard. Also suggest using something like Ulthuan Grey instead of actual White, it has better coverage and leaves room for proper highlighting so it doesnt look flat

Terrain (cover) cant take the save lower than 3+ at 20:18 as far as i understand... Now you did make them both anyway, but it should have been 3+ not 2+ due to the trees.

Pretty sure it can have cover if there is any ap involved on the attack, reading from the rulebook. "Each time a ranged attack is allocated to a model that has the Benefit of Cover, add 1 to the saving throw made for that attack (excluding invulnerable saving throws). Models with a Save characteristic of 3+ or better cannot have the Benefit of Cover against attacks with an Armour Penetration characteristic of 0. Multiple instances of the Benefit of Cover are not cumulative - a model cannot benefit from this rule more than once at any one time."

@@notthebest928 Hmmm i guess since the unit has a 2+ originally it can get back down to that +2 in case the attack has -AP, it can just never go from a natural 3+ down to a 2+, so it only works cause the dreadnought has 2+ normally.

I think there was a lot of feedback regarding it being called “ancient fury” and the walker that benefit most from it is just a mech with a space marine inside it 🤔

You both made illegal scout moves as there is still a 9" restriction when ending the scout move from enemy models. So both the Kasikin and Warsuit wouldn't of end up so close to one another. But the Warsuit would have the advantage of moving first

Good game. You did particularly well to have such a close game with vanilla marines. The Codex is pure trash. Everything marines can do, any other army can do at a fraction of the cost. The Space Marine Codex needs a complete rewrite.
