Space Mountain (Lights on) Breakdown and Evacuation, Disneyland California

I'm a HUGE Disney fanatic, and I waited for 4 hours to be one of the first riders after one of the renovations. As I sat in the "shuttle" waiting to depart, the lights came on and they closed the ride for almost 3 hours. Luckily, I got to see the inside from the people mover (TLTA)

When I was at Disneyland in May. Snow White had to be evacuated while I was on it. My cart was the only one not close to the exit. And the cast member who helped us since it was only 4 girls in that group let me jump over the tracks back and forth!! It was freaking amazing.

This happened yesterday at Disneyland. I was going to ride it until a Cast Member told us while in line that the ride was shutting down due to a malfunction. And Indiana Jones stopped just before the boulder was coming toward us. It was a weird day yesterday.

Rode this with lights on, and the one "breakdown" was the launch and we got up to the top literally the announcement ones on and we keep rolling but extremely slowly down the first part. They quickly said the ride would start and yet was the slowest launch for me.

5:38 Interesting. It looks like the windows that allowed people standing in the queue area to get a sneak preview of the ride are technically still there. Just boarded up. They really should consider opening them back up 'cause it really made the experience of standing in line for Space Mountain a lot more fun.

Does anyone else feel like their head is about to slam into something constantly when they ride space mountain? Now I think it was my 6th sense telling me about that astroid.. I'm 6'3" and I legitimately feel like I'm going to get my head knocked off in there sometimes... but then I realize people stand up and do all kinds of dumb stuff in there, lol. I'm surprise that asteroid hasn't been knocked off by a dumb guest.

According to some Cast Member reports, they tested the Asteroid's lighting effects shortly before the ride re-opened after its massive refurbishment from 2003-2005 and it ended up causing too much light-bleed inside the dome, exposing the track, supports and show building walls at some points. So they instead opted to only have it turned on during a planned night-time overlay called "Rock-It Mountain", but that was ultimately shelved after a brief test run during Grad Nite 2006. They did eventually end up putting all the effects installed for "Rock-It Mountain" (including the asteroid) to use in a re-tooled temporary all-day overlay based on its concept dubbed "Rockin' Space Mountain" in summer of 2007 but they haven't been re-used since, not even in any of the ride's other overlays... At this point, they're basically just sitting in the dome collecting dust... I guess the only reason they haven't removed them by now is simply because it would either cost too much or be too much work to do so...

When we went there for a week, it was literately broken down everyday for hours. The line started outside and we made it inside, two rows before we got on they closed it. Kind of annoying. They wouldn't tell us why though, just to come back later :p

One time I with my family was in Carousel of Progress and we were stuck on the 2nd part of it for a long time. People were getting up and leaving making the wait even longer. Eventually the show progressed

The ride has a bunch of "Brake sections" that are there so in the event of an emergency the rockets can stop... What happened when I was stopped was the ride was going as usual the lights turned on, we took a turn and stopped at the next brake section of the ride.

According to a Cast Member a guy got on the ride and didn't quite fit. So he decided to get out the way he came and that forced them to E-stop the ride due to safety procedures.
