A hint of Star Trek transporter technology from 1962, “fascinating “! ( have so enjoyed seeing this childhood memory in colour)

For decades I’ve been trying to identify the “singing spaceship” I saw as a kid. Thanks for uploading these!

I loved Space Patrol. The music was well ahead of it's time. 😊

The roll in could be what space music sounds like. This series always had a great story line.

This is the second episode featuring the planet Delta. The computer was not mentioned in the episode Message From a Star

That brain inside a glass receptacle Reminds me of "Return to Tomorrow " episode in the original Star trek Series with the entities (such as Sargon) inside a round receptacle or the other episode with the three giant brains seen inside clear receptacles, called the Gamesters of Triskelion. The transporter idea was also seen in an episode of Fireball XL5 where you could step into an alien's glass transporter to be transported great distances in an episode called "The Forbidden Planet", & another episode where Steve Zodiac was transported to 1875 in an episode titled "1875" along with the Professor & Venus (& Robert the Robot at one point). In the original Star Trek series of course the transporter would operate only for well under a hundred miles or so if I remember right, so you could beam down to a planet or from the planet back up to a space craft such as the Enterprise. I also heard that the idea of the transporter on Star Trek was developed so that they would not have to show the Enterprise land on a planet, but with these examples of transportation machines shown in these terrific kid's (and adults!) shows before Star Trek was on the air, it seems that somebody might have used these puppet shows for inspiration.

I’m running out of superlatives Iain, love these, please continue. “She’s talking nonsense “ that just about makes her a normal woman”. Ouch, how’s that for some good old fashioned misogyny !!!!! Funny though in its own way.

Thanks Jack! Gosh, there's a lot of non-PC in Roberta Leigh's stuff but that one is a real toe-curler! I hadn't spotted that one first time round 😳
