A shuttle should have gone to the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton. Not only did the USAF provide most of the shuttle astronauts, they used monies from their budget at critical budget points in the shuttles life. It was the USAF and their research into lifting body capabilities of space travel via the X-15 and X-24 projects that lead to the creation of the shuttle fleet. Not to mention that 3 famous NASA astronauts came from Ohio, Neil Armstrong first man to walk on the moon, John Glenn first US astronaut to orbit the Earth and Jim Lovell who uttered those now famous words; "Houston, we have a problem." Not to mention Dayton is the cradle of aviation because of the Wright brothers and 60% of the US population is within an hours driving distance of Wright-Patterson AFB.
