This is the best shuttle compilation video I have seen. For the past 7 years I was an orbiter structures engineer at KSC. I have seen all of these camera angles before, but never compiled together. I remember being amazed the first time I saw the booster re-entry footage as I had not seen that until I was an employee. Great job.

John Jacob while america gets alot of fame for their scientific discoveries and such they also have the advantage of having lots of raw resources. here in finland we have no fame outside of the large game companies and sweden is known for pewdipie. it's alot harder for smaller countries to get on the cultural map. also in finland a farmer killed a swedish priest somewhere during the middle ages or something. FINLAND!!

How is footage obtained from the liquid fuel tank's point of view after separation from the shuttle? (I'm thinking that it doesn't survive reentry as the solid rocket boosters do. Are we just seeing its transmission back to the shuttle before it goes out of range?)

No. It reenters the atmosphere and burns up. The SRBs have parachutes attached to them and go back to earth, fall in the ocean & are recovered (that's the video camilesk referred you to). But, when the external tank is jettisoned, the shuttle is too high up above the earth for it to be recovered, so it burns up. It's the last part of the shuttle system to go, and the only part that isn't [or wasn't :-( ] reused]

Are you serious? If you mean the large orange tank, check out video at 3:54. That is the large tank being jettisoned. Think how many big empty orange fuel tanks would be orbiting earth today if they weren't released over the ocean. Incidentally, the tank is orange because NASA intended to paint it white like the smaller fuel tanks until they calculated how much weight just paint would add and decided to leave it its natural metal color.

Thanks, Sir. I have an Android and used Shazam. The music at 6:19 is titled "Extension Tubes" by Amphibious Zoo Music, but it doesn't recognize the last tune (which is the one I REALLY want to know) or the music before that. It's recognizing the 2nd tune as "Antimatter" by AgNO3 but I can't confirm that it's correct b/c there's no play option. The first tune is being incorrectly identified by my phone as different tunes every time I try.

ESCRIBO EN LETRAS MAYUSCULAS PORQUE ENTIENDO QUE MUCHAS PERSONAS USAN LENTES PARA VER MEJOR LAS LETRAS, Y HAY QUE AYUDARLAS INDIRECTAMENTE A LEER LO QUE UNOS ESCRIBE SIN ESTAR DESCIFRANDO LO ESCRITO. TAMBIEN DIJISTE QUE ESCRIBIR EN MAYUSCULAS NO ES ESTAR GRITANDO A ALGUIEN... Y ES CIERTO PORQUE SOLAMENTE LAS PERSONAS ACOSTUMBRADAS A QUE LES GRITEN, SIENTEN Y TRADUCEN CUALQUIER COSA COMO UN GRITO. And if you don't have one, just ask anyone who has it, so he'll do it for you, and know the name of the music. I don't have an IPHONE, so sure i could do it for you immediatly, and tell you the name of this music.(i said in an earlier comment that i don't know the music name, beacuse it was picked up from the web without no name

***** Seems now a days, the innovation comes from the private sector, such as the Dragon reusable flights to resupply the ISS. But yes, as with any airframe, there is only so much life to it. I'm disappointed that there wasn't something else waiting to be unveiled. A change of a few Presidents, lack of funding, and cutbacks. Sign of the times.
