Cylon Command during the years between the First and Second Cylon wars. "So how do we make our Basestars more powerful?" "How about we remove all the guns and pack in more missiles and fighters?" "Good idea, but what happens if we win the war and have to chase a fleeing Battlestar across the depths of space? Those guns might be useful in steadily wearing it down more effectively than just counterable missiles" "Nah, like that will ever happen"

Galactica actual, I, am Lachesis. You struggle against an immutable future, the might of the Cylon Empire collects within striking distance, yet you still pull apart your homes, looking for one more rock you can carve into a primitive blade. I will not ask for surrender. I have attempted warfare, both lawful and not. My weapon would have healed every disorder you have inflicted on God's lands, but, like cockroaches, you will not go quietly. Your continued resistance has sparked contingencies within Cylon Command. God's will is no longer manifest in me. I would rather find glory for him in combat than subservience under another. You too, should consider death a preferable alternative than what is to come. I await Galactica's arrival above Oranu.

"With that said, they seem to have made themselves vulnerable to their own tactics, here- only two fighter squads means a Battlestar's vipers (mk II) will eat them for breakfast, and only heavy turrets leaves them with very little defence against torpedo-spam, nukes or fighters of our own. Micro Jumping. I've seen that touched upon alot in fanfics. Glad the game makes it canon. Though there has to be limits or its just way to OP.
@Zachomara5 жыл бұрын
That was actually done in the series. The Galactica did it. (Although I could see how a Cylon ship could do it better) I have a feeling if it jumps too many times in quick succession, it could burn out the FTL drive (out of game).
@Schlachti105 жыл бұрын
@@Zachomara The Galactica needed weeks of preparation with ground support to to calculate that double jump and the Raider more or less jumped blindly. I guess it takes a lot of computing power and excellent sensors to pull it off deliberately, especially for large ships. There is probably also a limit to how often you can jump in quick succession (FTL needs to cool down) and you are burning trough fuel pretty fast.
@tillmannfischer5 жыл бұрын
@Schlachti10 That jump did have the heightened difficulty of being done not only into an atmosphere, but also directly next to a planet (which made the calculations more than just extremely difficult). These micro-jumps on much more advanced hardware are done in open space, without having to worry about hitting a mountain and disintegrating half your ship in less than a second.

The Guardian Basestar in the new pack is quite the nasty beast. Multiple angles of fire from multiple ships, especially in conjunction with a Janus/Ranger class armor-piercer barrage, combined with a minotaur, Heracles, or battlestar main battery fire. Or keep at a distance and use assault raptors to go ham on it, so that it's heavily damaged, or at least lacking armor, once it gets in range. If you keep a strong flak wall up, it shouldn't be able to hurt you with anything but its guns. Or, do as I do anytime I don't like how a battle is going. A pair of Janus, and you throw six nukes at it
@ryanoneill75605 жыл бұрын
I second William's thoughts. When engaging fleets of heavier armed vessels I tend to either use a Pincer on them with 2 or more ships or form a firing line and circle them. The firing line (similar to what Pegasus and Galactica did in the TV show vs the Resurrection hub) would be most effective vs the Cratus as it'll always be exposed regardless of where it jumps.
@stolasburrito746565 жыл бұрын
I know nukes are a good idea for these things, after eliminating the Raider squadrons. But the tactical jump it can do poses a major counter to this. My main strategy for most battles is eliminate all fighters first, then overwhelm one or two capital ships at a time with coordinated salvos from multiple of my capital ships (As opposed to dish in our widespread minor damage to multiple ships at once)
