I have couple of thoughts: 1) What happens when you split a grid by deleting a single block, then undoing it? Does it return the split-off section together with the block or only returns the block? 2) Astronaut jetpack boost is an amazing idea! 3) What tilda does (unequips, and reequips the last equipped thing) should maybe be changed to a "pick" button? Press while looking at a block and you equip that block, press again and you unequip. This works really well in factorio. The suggested "unequip, reequip" functuionality should be moved to button "0" in my opinion. 4) No armor edges! Finally! I couldn't play SE1 without the mod that disables them since the edges are too distracting. I hope the launch goes well and hope the game goes above and beyond what SE1 was!
@Loy_Otterton10 күн бұрын
The pick block idea is a great idea! It makes building in factorio and Minecraft way quicker and cumbersome when working with a wide range of blocks.
@MrMarekRosa10 күн бұрын
Thanks for the feedback ad 1) This is currently not supported, which mean that if you split a grid, it can't be undo-ed. We wanted to keep the undo/redo simple and to cover the basic use cases... but I will rethink whether it shouldn't cover this case too. ad 2) Thanks! Plus we will make it even better in VS 1.2 - better boot curve, better sound effects. ad 3) Block picker will be implemented... maybe not via tilde, but it should be in game in the future VS

I wish the debris from all the destruction would stay loaded in for longer, at least until the player is there, and maybe even permanently until repairs are done or all players moved far enough for it to de-spawn. Naturally, it would be mostly cosmetic as opposed to real detached grids and blocks, but it would still be an amazing detail! Another thing would be realistic center of mass and thruster/lifting surface calculations, wherein a ship's thrusters can assist in turning and rotating the grid if they are placed properly (i.e. on opposite ends and different sides of the ship to turn), complimenting or even mostly replacing the gyros. It could be an optional world setting toggle if some players would rather build without thinking about the center of mass or where each thruster would apply its thrust and such... Of course it would be AMAZING if all the solar bodies were actually moving around instead of being constantly frozen in place, i.e. sun's shadows on the station moving as the asteroid rotates around its own axis and the sun, stars+other planets and moon's positions floating across the sky if viewed from a planetary outpost, etc. And lastly but most improbably, orbital mechanics for ships and stations in orbit, where they actually need to be going around the planet instead of just magically hovering above the same spot at any altitude (Lagrange points excluded).

Don't get me wrong, I'm completely sold on this game and already pre ordered it. I am disappointed though that there has been no video of ship building, and that the ships shown seem to lack much innovation in terms of the new grid capabilities. I just hope it's not a sign that we will again have to rely on mods to make the game usable.

For the love of god put colors in the HUD. I know Steam workshop has mods for it but I would like for it to come in the game by default.

I would love to see this in VR. I think I'd never leave then.

Now that we have a unified grid, we won't have to use the full sized blocks when making the floors for each level of a larger ship letting use more easily pack a ton of detailed areas in a relatively small area. This was only possible before by making large-ish small grid ships or using merge rotor positioning tricks to use both sizes together and sometimes Klang was not pleased with our attempts. This has come a long way from the days before we even had rotors.

I still play this game heavily despite owning Star Citizen and other games. This is the game I keep coming back to. As for that hand held yellow beam gun. That belongs on a large capital ship.

Looks grate. I look forward to playing SE2 and can't wait to see the detailed builds with the new unified grid system.

Would be cool if the sound of the "thud" from the engineer landing was proportional to the impact velocity. You could be stealthy by making small jumps or the hull could ring like a bell as you splat into it at 300 m/s

I wish you could move asteroids like big ones and make them your base that would be fun

@@kyokonull that’s also being added to SE 1 in the next update, it’s a large grid block with a small connector

As a fellow game dev I want to really give a shout to the team at keen, the ambiance of the new game is just amazing and that is something that can be extremely difficult to pull off. Everything looks and sounds so satisfying, i honestly can't wait to play this. The most mind blowing part is that this all just alpha and the performance looks to be excellent while maintaining good visual fidelity. Overall just a great job❤
