Theory for the last game: Peach decided to go wandering in the forest. Everything was normal that day. However, the bridge she was crossing broke, and she fell into the river and drowned. After Peach doesn’t come back, Mario goes into the forest to look for her. Angry at him for not saving her, Peach’s soul haunts the forest, causing Mario to hallucinate, get lost, eventually try to kill Him.

'The, or Coronation Day, is such an enigma. Usually with these ROMs you can get some sense of the story, but this...I just can't wrap my head around. All I can gather is that Mario built a cabin for someone or something and apparently has no memory of doing so. Playing it myself and getting all the endings didn't clue me in either. I don't know what that deformed Peach thing is, what Peach herself was doing there or who that one mysterious women is.

Interestingly there was a cut area/ending to the game that people found by digging through code and playing with Lunar Magic. If you look up "Unfinished Pink Forest (Coronation Day)" you'll find a few videos running through it. To sum up though, there's a part that, should you pass by the Demon Peach, a cutscene will play of Mario falling through the roof of the cabin onto another Mario clone, which may imply how Mario died (suicide?)

*Here’s MY storyline for ‘THE:* During Super Mario World, Peach was in Bowser’s castle, so she didn’t know what Mario did before he saved her. After the events of Super Mario World, Mario and Peach decide to move into the forest. They build a cabin together and plan to live in it. However, the spirits of the enemies that Mario has killed throughout his journey haunt the forest and seek revenge. They influence Mario, making him paranoid and turning him dark. After about two weeks of this, Mario goes insane, and murders Peach in an attempt to stop the hauntings. Peach's soul encounters Mario's victims, and after hearing about the horrible things Mario has done in her name, wholeheartedly agrees with their revenge plan. (THEY told me all about you) Meanwhile, Mario realizes what he's done to Peach and, with the influence of the spirits, drives himself to suicide in their cabin. (HE pulled the plug) Peach then traps Mario's soul in a hellscape, forcing him to relive the day he killed her over and over as she tortures him further. Mario witnesses the bloodbath that he caused in the aftermath of his "adventure." (Isn’t that color a little harsh now / No, HE loves red) He rebuilds the cabin and tries to kill himself again, but he just respawns in the same spot as he started. (YOU built it / and after that you / tried) Finally, after everyone is satisfied watching Mario suffer, Peach seals the bridge between the hellscape and the outside world with blood. The lost souls ascend, and Mario is trapped in agony forever as the game hits its final note.

that's not exactly the story though, it's indicated by cryptic dialogue that it's mario's limbo for crimes he's committed against the world, it seemly mimics peach's last words and thoughts in a hellish tone it seems that he is rather trapped in actual hell that tortures him with the memories of when he was still alive, hence why the shadows and monsters resemble peach and other familiar faces, but appear to be separate entities all together, it's a corrupt version of what was last seen by him. so basically, it's mario's hell created as punishment for killing peach and innocent creatures

I believe i know what happened in "'the" or "Coronation Day". Mario knew that Peach would eventually fall to her doom. He built an underwater cabin for her future corpse. How he knows is beyond me. Peach falls, and the plan is successful. This explains why the building section of the game was in, and the dialogue "YOU built it.", along with other stuff, like why Peach looks so distorted in the blood pool ending when you pan to the right. It also explains Peach coming after you. Perhaps the game is an endless hell made for Mario, where Peach kills him over and over and over. Maybe we can dig deeper.

I know that probably someone will read this. The last rom that he played is actually called. The Coronation Day. The story itself is very creppy. Apperantly it goes something like this, mario was bulding a house in the middle of the forest, peach visited him each day, until one day she falls of the broken brige getting very damaged. Mario finds her and gets her to the house, trying to heal her. However when he tries to look for help, a storm comes by and blocks all entries. At this point is very weird what happend and its still on debate. Many said that peach started getting crazy for a very big blood loss and starts paiting her own dress red whit her blood since "HE LOVES RED". Others said that mario killed her because peach was suffering a lot. He throw her to a small river where it was stained in blood

What I believe, and this is just what I believe, is that the "'the" must be some kind of limbo that Mario is. Since the game is also known as "Coronation Day", it must mean that something happened during the coronation of someone, in which surely it was Mario's coronation. Mario became king of Mushroom Kingdom, but he did some bad things as king. Hence why you see killed creatures. He went on a murder rampant and ruined Mushroom Kingdom. Why I think it is Mario? Some message boxes seems to mention Mario. And something tells me that in the end, Mario murdered Peach by drowning her in a lake, in which one of the endings show a lake of blood. This is just my thoughts about it. Can't confirm to be true. Also, the "I am the true king" message box means that he was indeed crowned as king of Mushroom Kingdom. And some texts shows that everyone hated him being the king of Mushroom Kingdom.

Elzi or he wasn't coronated for King but Peach for Queen and because of that Mario who had to defeat everything just to rescue her and still was only a plumber(and coronated was Peach who did nothing) so he went mad and decide to change that fact by proclaim himself a "True King" and killing Peach as we saw at first ending.
