You are so right Daniel about this game. I agree with you 100%. There is so much going on with the events, missions, random encounters. The game mechanics make sense and it appears to run like a well-oiled machine. Great that there is solo support! I agree that different ships would be a nice addition!

Thanks Daniel for a great look at another potential hidden gem. I’ve been following this game since the original Kickstarter. Was happy to see it given a new lease on life on Game Crafter and again now on your channel. I’ve been tempted many times to get it in the past specifically because of the Xia light leanings, but never did. Now might be the time thanks to you!

Nice game. But I really would like to see a game like that to be more exploration focused than trading goods. I really hope we see an expansion or new game based on exploration of the galaxy and multiple star systems and planets.

This looks like a fun game, and really well designed. Kind of a mash of Xia and Outer Rim : ]
@HeaterCalhoun442 ай бұрын
"Better than Xia" is a very bold claim. I think that statement is also very subjective. As someone who prefers larger, deeper and longer board game experiences, the points you bring up would definitely not make it the better game for my tastes. Quite the opposite in fact. I personally dont typically play smaller, faster games because i dont have to. I have 3 tables, play solo only, and do not have the need to share my gameroom with anyone else. So if i choose to leave a massive game up indefinitely, then i can. Dont get me wrong, I'd be interested in playing Spacers. It looks like a fun game. But Xia has paid it's dues and earned it's place as arguably the greatest space exploration board game ever made, which for me is infact true. I believe it would take a game much more than being smaller and faster than Xia to be better than Xia.
@TheDungeonDive2 ай бұрын
Nice! Xia is an awesome game.

Well this just means Daniel did a good job of showing what the game offers.

This could help with people that didn't get Xia, or weren't into games when Xia was reprinted. I have my copy of Xia with lots of extra metal coins and think people should have a chance to enjoy that kind of gameplay.
@Naruga2 ай бұрын
This channel leans into being subjective by nature of the games he even chooses to review / look at in the first place (even the channel name). He has stated many times he likes games that are smaller, concise but give a variety of options and lean into a theme so I can totally see him enjoying this one more than Xia. I say this as someone who has Xia as my favorite board game but that is also subjective.

Given the kickstarter did not get done, I wonder If the author has considered doing a print and play version to sell to raise funds, given the big cost difference at gamecrafter.

I asked, and he is working on one.
@buckcherry25642 ай бұрын
$92.99 OOFDAH! (Looks like quality prints though) Doesnt seem like it is "better than Xia", but a nice alternative or Xia-lite (It fairly directly copies Xia in a lot of pretty obvious ways). The event cards could slot into Xia pretty easily too! It does, however, like a VERY solid base to build upon. I particularly like it as a faster 1p version of Xia. That said, I like what I saw. I may well support the dev with a buy.
@TheDungeonDive2 ай бұрын
Printing on demand components is very expensive.
@buckcherry25642 ай бұрын
@@TheDungeonDive It sure is, but that still makes it $100 for Xia Lite. That gamecrafter site is pretty interesting. As a huge boardgamer, I cant believe I never heard of it!
@cheesedanishable2 ай бұрын
It looks like such a cool little game! I wonder, as good as the interactions are, if they don't get a little stale after awhile. It might be good if the game was twice the size to offer quite a bit more room for interactions and things to do. I realize that would make it... really expensive, but it would add staying power.
@TheDungeonDive2 ай бұрын
There are a ton of things to encounter. I have no worry about it getting stale. One of the reasons I like it so much is the small box and footprint.
@shrekage2 ай бұрын

Man… I was all in until the solo goal was just to ‘win as soon as possible’. That and ‘see how many points you can get’ are my two least favorite solo game objectives. Maybe a newer version can get an additional solo mode with a boss or real objective to do because otherwise the game looks amazing.
@TheDungeonDive2 ай бұрын
Oh no! I must have said something wrong, or you heard wrong. Or a combination of both. It's a whole mode with all kinds of missions, objectives, events and random encounters. It's AMAZING. Top 3 game I've played this year, and all I play are SF & F solo adventure games. You can simply keep track of how quickly you do all the awesome stuff as a score. But you don't have to. I don't. :) The solo game is EXACTLY like the regular version, but it has even more stuff to do because of the solo objectives, which unlock special abilities.
@BeatRag282 ай бұрын
@@TheDungeonDiveah right. I guess what I meant was like.. it doesn’t seem like there’s a way to actually lose the solo game. I’ll have to read the rulebook.

I dislike Space themes and settings. Yes, I miss out on some games, but I just can't buy into them. Dull, black voids with some spheres is just not my type of art. Maybe Cosmic Encounter, and only because I have been gaming since the 80's. Give me some silly High Fantasy and I am happy.
