I had been welding stainless steel pressure vessels for nearly 20 years and it is very interesting work but it is very noisy and you get use to it, making the domes and cones for each end of vessels and double handed TIG welding is a very hot and long job especially when the vessel is nearly 70 feet long.
@David-yo5ws3 жыл бұрын
You are worth your weight in gold in my country of New Zealand. We have a serious shortage of qualified and experienced welders that can read plans and work on their own. Why? Because the greedy bosses kept hiring Military Defense Force personnel when they retired and used immigrants that were qualified. Sacked the local welders and paid minimum wage to the keen immigrants. They did not have an apprenticeship culture and bludged off the government. I was 42 and got top student out of two classes in Mechanical Engineering when I decided to change my career. They never said it, but as far as they were concerned, I was too old. I never got an apprenticeship. Now they are begging for welders. What goes around, comes around. Now everything takes longer to get done and there's a cue to get jobs done. What's the saying: "You don't know what you've got till it's gone." Well it aint no paradise any more. Bad management and vision.

What I've read somewhere is that the FAA is insisting on that. Flash! Starship needs fins or landing legs that give it considerable height at landing and take-off to give exhaust gasses room to clear the engine space and low outer sides of the rocket. Seems like the required clearance has been bred out of Starship, but I 've forgotten why. We could have the retro-styled, Buck Rogers rocket with three rear fins, two being specifically for the belly-flop maneuver, and all tgree being tge landing fins of the rocket. Or it can be four.

@imconsequetau52753 жыл бұрын
When the cement is ground finer, it cures faster. There are also early-cure additives.
@David-yo5ws3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the % of Gypsum added to how quickly it 'goes off' (dries). The concrete will be dry, it's just that it won't have it's full strength. In this case, it will not matter too much, as your only talking about 250-300 tonnes spread on the legs. Maybe the legs will impress into the concrete, but with all the ReBar to spread the force, it shouldn't sink far. Also, it may actually help 'cushion' the shock if the concrete is not fully hardened, as it will flex and the ReBar will absorb the movement. A bit like a spring bed mattress. Just hope it don't 'bounce'!
