Strap in my friends because we're about to blast off into a week packed with more terrific scenes than you would believe, every single one amazing in their own way. SpaceX alone has been off the charts in so many ways with some incredible firsts right here. Then, where on Earth did this concept come from? This is SpaceX's Massive New Challenge! But how will they do this with Starship? As is now the norm, there is marvellous engineering happening by the day. Almost impossible to keep track of it all, but as always, we blend it all together for you into a smooth digestible paste and serve it right up every weekend.

Not necessarily. Private companies are driven by funding and profit. Spreading out the resources could actually slow down progress. The last, first and only time people went to the moon was a combined effort by loads of companies massively funded with one goal in sight. Competition lowers prices, it doesn’t necessarily boost progress.

Yes! And here we have SpaceX doesn't really even hide anything and doesn't patent anything. Other companies are starting to take on the same business model of just charge full speed ahead, daring others to try to keep up. This era will go down in history as the great push to intra system transportation. Seeing as each company has a slightly different method of building, fuel types, etc., the competition is rooted in the healthy realm of profit and accomplishments, rather than trade secrets and lawsuits (although there are a few lawsuits, most by Bozo.)

THANK YOU SO MUCH MARCUS!!! You are my FAVORITE 'Rocket Update' Channel BY A LONG SHOT!!! Not only do you talk about the launches, but you give a nice overview of the launch broadcast AND explain the different parts of it. Another channel I watched covered the RocketLab launch, but didn't go into detail about what was being launched But you cover the info on the re-use status of the parts, give them props on the dual stage streams and trajectory info, heck.. you even mentioned that amazing BATTERY SWAP AND DROP!!!! lol I HONESTLY get EXCITED about all this amazing progress whemn I watch you videos... no lie!!! Makes me sad that I never pursued being a part of the space industry.... I would love to even just work at the Boca Chica Gateway sweeping floor - just to be a part of something SO IMPORTANT AND COOL!!!! But I get to have a little bit of that feeling by watching your coverage of it all, and when I think about you being so lucky enough top have a successful channel covering it all :) It must be hard work, but if you love it enough it's not work at all - and you GENUINELY seem to LOVE IT!!!! THANK YOU for bringing the future down to Earth and into my mind, Marcus!!!! lol :) See ya next week!!!! ✌

To any person not exposed to vegemite from birth, it tastes like sawdust mixed with uncooked peanuts. Of course, most people only like the brand of peanut butter they were raised on. I was in my 40's before I got over my addiction to Peter Pan peanut butter. Now, I'll eat almost any variety that doesn't have too much sugar in it, though I'm not sure there is anything that would make me eat vegemite, no matter how hungry I was...and I've tried. I finally threw out the one jar of vegemite I had after it survived three moves. It was growing mold, which proves that something will eat it.

The primary reason for adding doors to the Megabays is for welding purposes. They use a shielding gas, usually an argon-CO2 blend, to protect the arc weld quality. Any wind blows it away from the surfaces and welding wire.

While l have some personal doubts about Musk and SpaceX's focus on Mars l have to admire their focus and determination. I suspect once the Starship launch vehicle becomes operational certain aspects or orbital industry to expand. One is private orbital stations providing various services. Including vehicle fueling followed by orbital hotels likely based on inflatable modules on the TransHab/Bigelow model. It won't happen overnight but in a few years it is a possibility.

Expect them to loose a few Starship boosters even after its operational. Just part of the learning curve. On the Falcon and Falcon Heavy boosters they have alot of experience now and know where problems are likely to pop up on each flight and how to deal with them. One thing l wish SpaceX would do if they aren't is to de-orbit the second stages after use simply to reduce the amount of discarded equipment in orbit. Preferably over into an area of the ocean that sees little shipping or maritime activity.

Corrosion is a huge issue in this area. Having parked our RV at Isla Blanca 3 years in a row for several weeks at a time I can confirm that corrosion begins on all unprotected surfaces very quickly. We spray our bikes and RV frame with anti-corrosion spray every time we pull in there. I always wonder how much corrosion SpaceX hardware accumulates. We have driven through Boca Chica several times and it seems everything has some degree of rust. Keep up the great work, Marcus!
@everettlwilliamsii3740
@everettlwilliamsii3740 4 ай бұрын
Stainless steel can actually corrode, but it takes a lot of time and usually immersion, neither of which seems probable for the rockets, but may be probable for the production facilities. The other probability is that welds will rust given that they often have mixed metals in them along with the extreme heat necessary to weld Stainless steel. If they are a problem, it should show up in pictures from the rocket garden.

Because it's pointless. There's no "might as well try", because it's completely obvious to them that it can't possibly work. It's like saying "pick up a car with your little finger"... reaction-control thrusters just don't have the power to lift something that size...

Thanks for another wonderful space news paste - I mean, video! Starlab is a heck of a concept. Just imagine, pop up space stations deployed when needed. That's rather amazing, and a fundamental change in how we use space. If they could link them together into bigger structures the possibilities would be endless... But your question about the Big Mouth is a very good one. Just how the heck could something that big get out of Starship at all? The problem with installing a huge door (I think) is that it introduces new weaknesses into the structure that could fail under the stress of liftoff. Hooray for SLIM! Talk about a saga... That little lander has been up, then down, then metaphorically up again. I'm glad they got it to charge after all and got some science done! It would be great if it did somehow survive the Lunar night, but even if it doesn't the mission has still been a success for JAXA.

@everettlwilliamsii3740
@everettlwilliamsii3740 4 ай бұрын
Having survived 4 hurricanes on the Gulf Coast of Texas, doors seem the least of their problems. Hanging a 300+ meter sail up in winds that vary from 75 up to 150+ mph looks extremely difficult and hazardous. So far, Boca Chica hasn't experienced anything like even the low end of that range, so I worry about that possibility. The foundations seem insufficient to such challenges and I've seen no guy wires that would make up for the insufficiencies of foundations.

The 2nd Texas tower is also being built to allow them to make upgrades to tower 1 for larger Starship stacks.

Catch-only tower only exist in fans imagination. Increased cadence will also come into play later for Artemis

i don't know why every door these illustrators draw look like a barn door swinging out , why not a door like a minivan side door that slides?

I wonder if the Starl labs could be used like a lifeboat in orbit around the moon for future missions

Great coverage, as always - thanks, Marcus! Question: What are we looking at in that Rocket Lab fairing separation view? It looks like a somewhat shattered clear window or conical fairing!

I'm thinking tower two will go in the suborbital section. Probably where pad A was.

Starship's cargo door is going to have to have a lot bigger circumference if it is going to deliver the Starlab space station to orbit.

Yes, the ship that's launching Starlab won't be the same variant as the one launching Starlink

@@alvianchoiriapriliansyah9882 For now, at least. Presumably once they have a version with a large door available, they'll abandon the "pez dispenser"... it seems to just be a short term solution to get Starlink launches going while they figure out how to do larger doors.

Amazed by this space fan community. So many channels and folks seeming to have made decent business models out of observing and documenting space tech. Any details on the size of this market and community, how much of it is hobbyists and how much viable businesses?

I'm always interested about how much fuel they use, do they fill all those tanks and empty them for every launch? its massive amounts of fuels and would love you to do something about the the process of getting incredible amounts of fuel and how much they actually need for every starship launch.

That information is buried in the many posts from MH, WAI, and others. A full flight of the Heavy and Starship requires many hundreds of tons of both methane and LOX.
