Fast paced testing of new technologies! Advances through trial and error. Look at Falcon 9. It had 4 explosions. Look at it now. The most successful rocket system in the world. A real workhorse!

This isn't a fail that's a successful launch that booster is supposed to explode it just took a little longer than usual

Say what you want about Elon, but the iterative process works. The first time, all they wanted was to get it off the pad. It did that. This time it got to space, and separated. Give it another iteration or so, and it will be ready for full unmanned missions, and shortly after that a full crew. This mission was an absolute win.
