@@themyceliumnetwork You're doing a wonderful job already. It will come. Most scientists do not concern themselves with videography.

What was the "one" mushroom that sucked you in?
@themyceliumnetwork Жыл бұрын
Brick Cap (Hypholoma lateritium) my buddy & I were clearing out an overgrown raspberry patch so he could make a garden & I uncovered an old oak stump with at least 500 mushrooms growing from it. it was like magic.

@@themyceliumnetwork I have a question concerning the zip lock bags. You mention you keep agar in it prior to putting parafilm in case they contam. If I understood correctly you drop spores / lc / grain / tissue on agar, put them in zip lock bags then wait a couple of days and if no contam you individually put them in parafilm? If so, doesn't that add a new step for contam to enter the scene with the manipulation ? Thanks

@@nicohelpdesk435 that's correct, i do not use the parafilm until its needed. no use using it if I am just going to expand on the agar plate to take transfers from it in a week. all plates I store or ship to customers are wrapped parafilm. i can put four 90mmX15mm petri dishes into one sandwich size ziploc bag. if you like you can store the agar plates in bags but it takes more room & they slide around (which could be disastrous if a stack of them are knocked over) all my work is done in front of my filter fan & that is an extra measure for keeping contam out but as long as you work in a clean area with no air movement you should be fine, the inside of the bags are close to sterile so no worries about contam from inside the bags. gloves, a face mask & 70% iso are your friends. leaving your agar plates for an hour or two after putting LC, grain, agar transfers... gives them time to bind together, you don't want to flip a fresh agar plate with LC, grain or transfers on its side as it will just run to the edge or get stuck somewhere you didn't want it. Hope that helps!
