Thank you for the encouragement Doc! I have been away from the house for the best part of the year finishing a remodel for the wife's mother and only get back occasionally to see my dear wife briefly. The new year should be full of my old malarkey though!

The catalytic converter is usually placed a the hottest point from the engine for a reason, in California it's not legal to move that original location from the manufacture for smog purposes, or to alter the pipe in anyway, though they may still honer a conversion if the emissions are less that what the car originally had BAR would likely frown upon it, but. What state are you in?

@@rivenmotors7981 Was this car made in 75 or are all models 76, and up? Sometimes if the production date is 1975.5 or earlier the car can be titled as a 1975 instead of 1976 which the DMV in California will most likely not waver on because of actual import date, making it exempt, I would pace the catalytic converter as close to the original location distance wise if at all possible or check with local BAR to see what you can do. There is old hotrodders test with a heat crayon that would verify the hottest location on the exhaust, they would mark off several locations along the length of the exhaust, and where the crayon mark melted at is where they would cut the pipe, effectively tuning it. Not that this completely applies here, but it makes sense. Today you could just use infrared temp gun on a dyno, but believe the test is supposed to be measured static or running under load in like 3 or 4th gear.
