I think it is frustration at the jury cynically taking full advantage of the system and misguided toward Chanel herself. I do think that it is legitimate to question the voting arrangement even though we knew what we were getting into.

Congratulation for Chanel, but her song is appropriate for a Latin Grammy award, not for Eurovision. Tanxugueiras was the perfect option for that. The Spanish public picked up Tanxugueiras by giving the maximum qualification (60 points) but the jury (without any reason) refused them by giving barely 30 points. Which, it's very fishy. On the other hand, one of the 5 jury members has some relationship to Chanel. Which makes it even more fishy. Anyways, Tanxugueiras has a good musical CV, and will make more and more excellent spectacles ( much better than Chanel, under my POV 🙂 ) Regards

as you're from the UK, I want to tell something: the UK deserves a decent national selection similar to Benidorm Fest or post-2020 UMK. the BBC needs to get up. a collaboration with a famous record label is not enough.

The problem is that the U.K. doesn’t take Eurovision seriosly. In fact in U.K. it is almost considered a comical kitsch camp event. To participate in Eurovision is considered career suicide. For what it is worth perhaps the U.K. have a healthy sense of perspective when it comes to Eurovision. The only thing that bemuses me is when some U.K. viewers complain about negative bias against the U.K. when it comes to voting when we send incredibly poor entries.

I expect Germany to step up too, but as long as the BBC is involved then it is difficult to see the U.K. follow suit. The truth is that Eurovision receives good viewing figures so there is no incentive for improving the quality of the national entry. A good return for minimal effort. There is a small hardcore group of Euro fans that are frustrated by it all. Most people aren’t that bothered and enjoy viewing the freak element of Eurovision. They enjoy the crazy entries more than the serious ones and that is the way they view the contest. They even come up with drinking games where everyone is allocated an entry and whenever your entry gets 12 points you have to down a drink. It’s not to be taken seriously.

Rewatching this after our 3rd place :). Her performance was already almost perfect at BenidormFest. I remember being worried about the changes they could introduce and, in the end, those little changes, added to what we had previously seen, resulted in a perfect performance at Eurovision. In the actual performance from the Eurovision final, she also pulled out a fan in the end of the performance. Another nod to the Spanish culture. Your previous video was so interesting (with very substantial and smart comments)! That's why I'm here again to watch this and many others from now on. As you already heard the other songs and liked Tanxugueiras, I'd have loved to see your reaction to the other performances. Slomo is nothing complex at all, but what I liked the most about this proposal was Chanel's har work and enthusiasm for going to the festival. This work was reflected in his performance, which was ready to go to Eurovision and which was at the first semifinal more perfect and suitable than others like Terra's. And that gave her many points. I'd have liked to see what would have happenned with Tanxugueiras, Rayden or Rigoberta, but I am very happy for Chanel and for this Benidorm fest! I was getting emotional at the end of the video, I hope to have the same illusion for the years to come. There are many people in Spain who I think are being very critical of the Benidorm fest at the end, but for me it has been a big step. Best from Spain!! ❤🇪🇦

A -I counted the words of the lyrics: 366 in total (because "mo,mo,mo" or "lo, lo, lo" can't be counted as words) - 118 in English (that's 32.24%) I've been reading this same issue about being over 40% or 50% or even 60% English, but it's not the case. It's easily checked, I did it myself (I did not just read it anywhere and ate it) and it's under 35%, even if she'd say "Thank you so much, I love you" at the end of her performance, it'd be still under 35%. B- The 50% nationality rule is not for composers, but for contestants: "De los participantes: Nacionalidad: tener nacionalidad española o residencia permanente en España. En el caso de grupos, al menos el 50% de los participantes deberá tener acreditada tal condición." She works with 5 dancers on stage and 1 backup. From those, only one of the female dancers is not national (and even though she could have permanet residence in Spain anyway). C- The lyrics mention the brand "Bugatti" but that's not a promotion or publicity. Rigoberta says "Lacroix", but she's not making publicity of paintings or museums. Publicity is an intention, not just any name pronounced. D- What do you mean by Maxim Huerta's fiscal issues? Should the whole Festival be cancelled because of that, or just Chanel's victory? Is she Maxim's tax advisor or what? E- "SloMo" is unpublished. You talk about that song being presented to other records, but there's a difference between presenting a song and having a song published. I don't think there's much more to say about this. F- And yes, she had worked with one of the jury's component. She has worked in the biggest musicals in this country and in TV. I'm not surprised at all she's known on that world. G- Finally, of course the voting was arranged for Chanel to be the winner, or whoever they wanted to choose. Why would they give a jury the 50% of the voting power if not? I mean, wasn't that clear from the begining? Did anybody think that a jury owning 50% of the voting is just a random estrategy? Really... I wanted Tanxu or Rigoberta to be the Eurovision contestants for Spain, but I have to admit that, even though Chanel's song is empty of concept, the performance is over the top. And I can only wait to see her on the ESC stage and take our breath away. Such a professional. +So please, objectivity should be hand in hand with veracity, and that only comes with documentation.

@@7elegrama As for paragraph G. Yes we are aware those were the rules, however I still believe that it is legitimate to discuss them and consider future changes. It is morally questionable to organise a televote that can easily be overruled by the decision of the jury. If that is the case then what is the point of having a televote in the first place and charging people for it? In other countries that would be investigated For misleading practice.

@@_FsEk don't be silly. The point of televoting is the same as the jury. They both own a 50%. Mameskin won Eurovision by televoting. The Jury gave them third of fourth place. Respect yourself and stop being angry. Eurovision implemented jury when they saw many countries started to send joke songs as Chikilicuatre, and made Eurovision look like a circus. Joke entries are no more thanks to Jury.

@@rober4 Hi Rober. I’m not suggesting the result should be overturned. The terms and conditions of the contest were accepted by all candidates. In all honesty all three songs would have been worthy winners. My issue has more to do with the misleading attitude and culture of the state broadcaster and the general lack of honesty. The idea that you promote the event with a “el festival que tu quieres”, (the festival that you want), while simultaneously securing your own candidate’s success and setting up a voting system that can effectively overturn the public vote. If there is corruption surrounding a silly music contest one can only imagine what corruption exists right across society with more important decisions. The crucial factor here is the trust bestowed by a population on its public broadcaster (rtve) and how this can be broken by something as meaningless and vacuous as a music contest at a time when people rely on it as a reliable source of information in a world so awash with untrustworthy news. In U.K. rtve’s behaviour would have been referred to the independent media regulator ofcom for misleading promotion. What I call for is a change of culture where the opinion of the public, (the people that pay for the existence of rtve, the ebu and Eurovision) is respected. In Italy juries account for 33% of the vote. In Finland it is 25% and all jury members are foreign thereby reducing the chance of an inside job or favouritism. The example of Chiquilicuatre is often quoted as proof that the public only deliver joke entries. In reality they tend to be more discerning than the so called experts and less susceptible to corruption. Let I remind you that none of the alternatives at this year’s Benidorm fest were joke entries.

@@_FsEk had chanel been fourth in televoting, Terra would go to Eurovision. She ranked third, that's all. How jury works in other countries doesn't matter, rules in Spain were announced beforehand and no one raised an eyebrow. Also, it works as in Sweden, which btw, sends Cornelia thanks to the jury and not the televoting, which chose another contestant 🤷🏼‍♂️
