great vid nice to see the middle burnt bit nice and green again I was there last year in May and it was pretty saddening to see all black from fire. scary fall that you had, it was rough when I was there too often stones burst open by fire at times . I had rain myself then snow turned me around at high elevations could'nt see any surface features I was solo, got halfway down Portugal before illness and time turned me back to the boat. Ain't the total randomness of meeting and riding with people great, had similar experiences. a few seconds before your tired fall I am almost certain its the spot I did similar 6pm plus tiredness too was trapped under the bike for 2.5 hours and a emergency call but all ended OK. I will go back. thanks for memory jogger.

Wow, sounds like I had a really easy time compared to you. Good to know you made it out, I hope it hasn't put you off further adventures. I have added a steering damper to the T7, which really helps when bigger rocks deflect your front end sideways.

Great video, with honest commentary. We all have good & bad days. I noted your comment towards the end on the suspension upgrade and how that changed your riding experience when you swopped bikes. I have a 300L and upgraded both front and rere and it makes such a difference when off road, and like you say more precise.

Thank you for your comment. The 300L is a great bike, glad to read you feel such a difference with the upgrade! Such an easier bike to pick up, as well. Bought an AJP recently to lower the Centre of Gravity and weight overall on the next trip.

Hey thank you, much appreciated your comment. Portugal is definitely on the list of TET routes, but we bought single cylinder bikes for that. You are lucky to live where you are. I hope you had a great time riding this section.
@RustyNail992 ай бұрын
Rode that section and bottom loop in September, so much drier and less mud ! A lot easier on a 500 without camping gear as there were so many places to stay. It is amazing scenery there, and you will enjoy Portugal just as much.
@carpe_via2 ай бұрын
@rustynail99 Thank you for sharing your experience. Glad you had an easier time. I agree that a lighter bike is best for such a single trail: I just bought a used AJP PR7 :). However, camping (and the independence that comes with it) is our thing. So we bought lighter tents. Maybe we go to hotels later in life...

A lovely video, thank you. Did you get permission to fly the drone in the Picos national park? If so how easy was that?
@carpe_via21 күн бұрын
As far as we were aware at the time, we were not in a 'red' zone and kept to all other usual EU drone restrictions (height, insurance, pilot license for under 250g drone etc). But do not take that as a guide and enquire with the Spanish authorities if you are planning to fly.
@nicholasdugdale3 ай бұрын
The dry humor is always appreciated! Awesome stuff, I would really like to make my way over to Europe to run the TET. What season would you suggest running those sections to avoid the rain? Cheers.
@carpe_via3 ай бұрын
@@nicholasdugdale Hey, thanks for the feedback. The really muddy section in the film was quite short. We went end of May into June, so I suppose any time after that should mean the terrain is drier. Just came back last night from another Spain TET trip, weather was perfect ( warm days but slightly chilly nights) and we only had the tiniest mud sections. This time we went East towards and into the Pyrenees.
@ogasi1798Ай бұрын
Really good video among hundreds of tet videos :-) and showing much terrain that others have not. Now, I have to say the near crash with the car was more bretts fault ad i say that as a biker, he was closer to the middle than the inside which isn't smart on such small roads - we have to ride defensively at all times , the car had little choice but to be where he was based on the video - anyway, all safe so that is what matters but a driver who was less sharp with reflexes and different road conditions and you may have had a nasty accident on your hands... take it, leave it.
@carpe_viaАй бұрын
Hi Ogasi, thanks for your comment. It is always a juggle showing enough terrain or not enough, glad we got it right for you. Regarding the near-miss, I was right up Brett's tail so saw exactly where he was. There was a ditch on his right and he was about 6 inches away from that, so totally tucked in. Any more to the right and he would have been in the ditch. Shame his gopro was off at the time...

I am new to the adventure scene and will start slow here in the UK but next year wanna do Spain and Portugal. My most challenging worries is the app for navigation really. Sure there is also a lot of other things I need to know but what do you use?
@carpe_via21 күн бұрын
These days, we use DMD2 as the main app (on a Samsung tab3 or higher spec tablet) and an iphone with maps.me for backup. We often use google maps to find camping sites/fuel etc when we are on the tarmac. DMD2 is the best we know so far. Enjoy discovering adventure riding and make it what you want it to be.

Thanks for sharing!! What tyres are you using?
@carpe_viaАй бұрын
@@carlos94091 thank you, Carlos. I was using a Motaz Tractionator 75/25 front and a Mitas Rally on the back. On my latest trip to Spain in September ( video coming!) , I went Motaz Rallz 80/20 front and rear. All tyres are compromises and when you hit proper mud, the 75/25 is not enough.

@@carpe_via Thanks for answering. I'm preparing my new-old transalp 650 for the spanish TET and I was thinking about Mitas E07+. Good riding!
@carpe_viaАй бұрын
@@carlos94091 Thank you, Carlos, for your comment. We had fun! The Transalp is a really cool bike, I rode the Mk1 many years ago and loved the engine. Regarding tyres, I would go more knobbly as the E07+ is a 60% road tyre. And when you need those knobbies, you really want to have them. Next time I ride in Spain, I will go for a tMichelin Tracker up front and a Mitas Rally at the back.
@gjavo6400Ай бұрын
@@carlos94091Don't. I live in this region and even on easy trails you'll find steep slopes that will get slippery when wet, which can also happen in summer or because of natural springs and streams and shady spots. E07+ is a nice 50/50 tire but useless in mud on slopes. I ride 80/20 Anlas Capra X (similar to Michelin Anakee Wild) which I love, but the front gets iffy on mud as of 50% wear. Still good knobbies though also on tarmac. (DR650 without luggage)
