Fantastic video Stu- and PLEASE, ignore the trolls in the comments. They are not worth replying too- life is too short and you only encourage them. I drove from the Orihuela Costa south of Torrevieja up along the N332 to Alicante Airport yesterday, then on up north up the AP-7 (Autopistato de la Mediterrania) to Valencia, and back again. Beautiful drive, beautiful weather. Viva Espana!

Couldn’t agree more. Took my car across to Santander from Plymouth in 2007. Drove across to Barcelona, then headed south along the coast. A day’s detour to Granada and Rhonda, then south again along the coast to Cadiz. On to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria after a few days. Fantastic scenery, excellent roads. A once in a lifetime trip.

Stu, you've been in 18°C weather in the south while I've been in -4°C up in Andorra (chuckle). If you've never been up here, I would absolutely recommend coming at least once, even if you don't ski. Being from Alabama, I've felt a little bit like a fish out of water climate-wise, and I'm still not quite used to the altitude, but EVERYONE has been very nice, and high in the Pyrenees there are some of the most beautiful views I have ever seen in all of my travels. Hasta Mañana.

Couldn’t agree more Stu. We travelled on this road several years ago in a convertible and thoroughly enjoyed the drive round the Cabo de Gata. Also visited Los Albaricoques where the film For a Few Dollars More was filmed. The restaurant there is packed with memorabilia and photos of the Clint Eastwood films and information boards around the village explain the different film sequences. Also, scenes from Lawrence of Arabia were filmed in the area, eg the attack on Aqaba.

Another great video Stu. You may or may not know that just up the costa from Las Negras is Palomares which is still contaminated with radio active material due to 4 nuclear bombs being dropped when an American bomber collided with a refuelling plane at 31000 ft. Two of the bombs were burst open , one was found intact in a river bed & the other one was recovered at sea after a ten week search. It was one of the world's worst nuclear accidents & could have been a lot worse as each bomb was about 6 times more powerful than the Hirosima version. It happened in 1966 & despite a big cleanup operation there is still contaminated land that cannot be used until more is done. The USAF servicemen used in the cleanup have since suffered cancer & other serious health issues. If your jamon or paella glows in the dark then best not to eat it!!!!!!!!!

@@juanluisperez639 Unfortunately it is a historical fact that this happened. If the nuclear material had exploded instead of being scattered as it was, then none of us would be here now. The Americans removed a lot of contaminated soil & paid Spain a lot of money but some contamination remains (in 2 trenches near the cemetery I believe), so if I lived there I would be asking- why was it not cleaned up completely?

Many parts of those places similar to locations in Southern and Eastern Spain. Only Spain is probably 1/3 the cost of living in California (I lived in California for 17 yrs and now living happily in Spain- could not afford California any more and working like a slave there and barely surviving and being stressed out all the time- it's no life). Not just that- the towns and cities and Architecture and history here is beautiful. Walking around the old towns here in the warm sunshine is like being in a dream.

The comparisons to Florida are due to the fact that many retirees from northern Europe retire here in addition to the large amount of tourism. Either way, Almeria is an area of deserts. It is not the best place to use the rest of Spain as an example. If you want something tropical you can go to the Canary Islands.

Sadly just to the north of where you are up around Tabernas (and in fact all the way down to beyond Malaga) they are trying to turn the whole area in to one huge solar farm and make the area the power house of Europe which is very sad, should be more investment in encouraging people to install solar panels on the roofs of homes, factories and shopping centres and generate power exactly where its needed,
@hejla4524

Nuclear power would do the trick for a small fraction of the surface area these ugly and inefficient solar panels and wind farms take.
@pedrofmc0000
@pedrofmc0000 2 жыл бұрын
A good part of Almería is an empty desert. It seems very appropriate to use it to generate electrical energy from renewable sources. Better that than nuclear or coal-fired power plants. Regarding the installation of solar panels in buildings, it is something quite complicated in Spain because most of the population lives in flats or apartments, which makes it impossible to install panels.
