Trans -Oranje Express with 3481 22. 10. 1991

Der mit 25 NC No. 3481 aus De Aar bespannte Expresszug "Trans-Oranje" fährt in nördlicher richtung von Da Aar nach Kimberley. Gefilmt wurde er in Witput, Belmont, Modderrivier und danach parallel bis kurz vor Kimberley.
Steam hauled "Trans-Oranje" express headed by De Aar based and crewed 25 NC 3481 on the northbound leg from Orange River to Kimberley. Filmed at the stations Witput, Belmont, Modder River and followed right into Kimberley

WOW just fantastic. This takes me back to my firing days on that section. I worked 3481 many times. De Aar had two drivers that worked the Oranje Snel with 3481. I can tell this is Driver Kleinhans at the controls. As he pulls away from Modder River he sets the cut-off and just lets the engine take it in her stride. He was a great chap. Thanks for sharing

Wonderful indeed. My driver John Gilberthorpe and myself often worked that train and also 3481. Those sure were the great old days
