Well this brings back some very good, exciting memories. I was in London in the early 80s and I saw this very handsome bloke standing outside of a posh car fiddling around with a briefcase as me and my sister and her husband walked by. He winked and gave a little whistle and we all started chatting. Anyway I went on a few dates with him and discovered after a couple of dates that it was Steve (Norman) from Spandau Ballet! I wasn't really too mad about their music. It only lasted about 4 or 5 months as he was away a lot and in the meantime I met my future husband. But all remained friends. Sorry to be boring but I'm a bit ill in bed and this has brought back lovely memories. Happy days.

The lead singer Tony Hadley lives quite local to me and has been in the supermarket around the corner from me several times. My dad (who is a self employed Landscape gardener) also worked on his garden a few years ago. Tony Hadley is an absolute gentleman and very down to earth and humble guy.

Great reaction, Shawn - yeah, this was such a high school slow dance song. I actually like it more now than I did back in the 80's. 😁I think it's pretty smartly written, and the groove is pretty irresistible. It was sampled by PM dawn back in '91, and that was a huge hit, so you also might have caught hits of it there. 🙂

Yep - this was a Slow Dance "Babe Layer". As a child of the fifties, I enjoyed so much of the '80s - we were experiencing a Multimedia Renaissance, for sure. Extra Network with FOX, cable channels, music videos and MTV, plus film and cultural transformations (Vietnam was over, as well as the Oil Embargoes. 'Recreationals' were cheap and plentiful, race relations were better than ever, etc., etc.). At one point some 5,000 artists were moving into LA county every week - and then there was NYC and London as the other centers of the renaissance. Even some old groups from the '60s and '70s made 'comebacks' - recording some of their best stuff in the '80s, which spanned '79 - '90.

Movies 🎥 16 Candles 🕯 starring Molly Ringwald in 1984. The Wedding 💒 Singer has an excerpt. Written by Gary Kemp. Classic 🙌 1980s pop ballad. In the video he is on piano 🎹. But, in concert and in the studio 🎙 he was on guitar 🎸. Jess Bailey was on piano 🎹 in the studio and on tour in early days of Spandau Ballet. Martin Kemp, younger brother of Gary, on bass guitar 🎸. He was married to Shirlie Hollliman, who was a backing singer for Wham! You can see them in the music video 📹 Last Christmas 🎄. Steve Norman on saxophone 🎷 John Keeble on drums 🥁. Tony Hadley on lead vocals. He quit. The band broke up afterwards. 7:15. Marvin refers to Marvin Gaye, who was alive in 1983. RIP. Samples. 1 In 1991, PM Dawn used a sample for a song 🎵. 2 Backstreet Boys had a sample: ain't nothing but a heartache 💔 matched the descending piano scale, 8:06 and last 10:53, of True. Suggested videos 📹: 1 PM Dawn performs Set Adrift on Memory Bliss 2 Backstreet Boys sing I Want It That Way. 3 Spandau Ballet performs Highly Strung.
