Ohh, I thought that you were never going to react to Spandau Ballet (/ˈspændaʊ ˈbæleɪ/ SPAN-dow BAL-ay), they were an English pop band formed in Islington, London, in 1979, one of the best groups of the 80's New wave/New romantics. The band's classic line-up featured Gary Kemp on guitar, synthesiser and backing vocals, his brother Martin Kemp on bass, vocalist Tony Hadley, saxophonist Steve Norman and drummer John Keeble. I love this group along with Simply Red, Tears for fears, A-ha, Police, Duran Duran, Culture Club, Depeche mode, The Cure, (you reacted to some of these groups) and so many others. What a wonderful decade!!! I would recomend you "Gold", "Only when you leave" and "Through the barricades", but one of their best songs, they have a lots, is "Be free wtih your love" (you won't stop dancing). Bryan Burton my understanding was that the "ballet" was a term used for the pacing back and forth that the nazi war criminals on death row did in the Spandau prison

I grew up roller skating to this song. His voice is almost like a combination of the guy from A-ha 'Take On Me' and George Michael and Boy George. But I think his voice is maybe even stronger and bolder and more smooth than all three of those guys. This guy may have the greatest male pop singer voice of the entire 80s decade. I'm a musician myself and heard this song as a little kid back when it came out but was never able to appreciate it until just recently hearing it again after almost 40 years. In my opinion it's probably the masterpiece love song of the 80s. Incredible production , the arrangement , the chords, melody, and the lyrics are pure poetry . Might even be the most successful one-hit-wonder of all time as I never even knew the name of this freaking band until this year 2024. I was like Spandau ballet????? REALLY?? Wtf?? 😂 Masterpiece

This song was released at the beginning of my freshman year in high school....back when I thought I was grown and knew it all🤣. Great memories with this one and a great reaction, as usual! I don't think anyone can hear this and not feel all warm and fuzzy!
