Hi everyone, I’m Jason! It was such a pleasure showing Spanian around my beautiful village, Bali, in Crete with the buggy. I hope you all enjoyed the tour and got a glimpse of how amazing this place is. Bali is even better in the summer, with so many people visiting for holidays and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. Let me know what you think, and I’d be happy to share more about our hidden gems here in Crete!😊

The reason a lot of icons and statues have been defaced in Greece and modern day western turkey (which was once Greece) is due to the Ottoman Empire being an Islamic caliphate and they viewed it as ‘idol worship’. A great example is in Hagia Sofia in Istanbul (previously Constantinople) which is the holiest Greek Orthodox Church, the ottomans had burned or scratched many of the iconography within the church. They also have large Islamic curtains to cover the icons, but if you look close enough you can still see Greek Orthodox crosses in the patterns on the walls and Jesus displayed in the domes and high parts of the ceiling.
