The miners removed the flat rocks to get the gold that had fallen between the stones before they left. It looked like an indian pithouse until you showed us the drag stone. Nice video thanks for sharing it with the public.

I found something similar but it was long and thin about 18 inches wide and say 15 feet long. In Wyoming. But very similar just not a circular. Still dont know but the fire pit is about 12 inches under ground. Wow . Blessings for information

I would love to walk a pattern of increasing-in-size circles around that Arrastra with a metal detector. It would have made a great reference point for the Spanish to bury valuables nearby. I'd concentrate on line of site to major visible geographical features that the Spanish could have used to point in the direction of their cache to which they would then have no doubt paced-off the distance to using their normal marching gate.

This History is getting harder and harder to find, fires up north in the Uintahs have destroyed almost all the trees. The history is slowly eroding away. History needs to be preserved, that is why we formed RWLmedia, Thank you Arizona Treasure Hunter for your contributions

I couldn’t have said it any better! History is eroding away and being bulldozed away at a astonishing rate. It’s getting harder and harder to find sites like this due to human progress. That’s why I try my hardest to locate a discover the sites to bring them back into the forefront so we can learn from these locations and artifacts. Each one of them tells a story

Hey Les im Rick. It sounds as though we are close to the same age. About 25 years ago a buddy of mine and I were out poking around in the desert. At the time my friend was maybe in his early 30s i was on the down hill side of my forty's. We weren't to many miles from his place in San Manual on the shady side of the catalenas. We were in some perty thick mesquite and decided to take a break from hunting for points. After about 10-15 minutes we realized we were sitting in the middle of an arastra! Then casting out further we came across no less than 4 or 5 others! We found a couple of hand made shovels and some kind of a pry bar. Very old steel and hand wrought. There were several drag stones of various sizes some of which were small enough for maybe two men or a burrow to pull. We piled the metal items in one of the arastras that was maybe 20’ in dia. It had been used extensivly as the floor stones were worn probably 3”-4” deep by maybe just under 3’ wide. I wonder if you happened to be in the same place. Good memories and times. Happy trails, R

Unfortunately a lot Arizona treasure hunters have gone out with their metal detectors and picked up most stuff of value so its unlikely youll find anything left. Very few report their findings and it gets handed down through families so those treasures will never be discovered: they already were and are closely guarded by the families that found them. It's still fun looking into the old stories/ legends and retracing the steps of historical figures. You won't find anything though, as I said. Or you'll find very little. People have snatched it all up. Technically you are supposed to report it to the government and the government will put it in a museum or something. But most people don't do this of course even though the government can put you in jail for life if you don't report it! A lot of the treasure is either kept in the family or quietly melted down and traded for other goods/ money. I knew of a guy who found some treasure out in Arizona and he found it on private property I think. He did report it but funny enough no one believed him. So he got this wtitten statement or something saying that basically no one cared and he could keep what he found. Later they found out there might be validity to the story, the IRS has never stopped bothering him since. But he still has that written statement that holds up as a legal document. So not much at least as of right now anyone can do about it. Usually people don't get that lucky though. The government will force you to turn over whatever you find even if it is on private property.

Shit! Art I just spent the last 45 minutes typing out an immense amount of basically mostly my own opinion on your above comment. Then I lost it go figure anyway no art it’s not all gone her tons and tons of shit out there the desert is huge. You could be looking directly at a freight train and not see it in the desert. I’ve put in thousands of miles no bullshit on foot horseback on three wheelers. Four-wheel drives and quads has still continue to do so to this day and I’m 65 lived in the desert Southwest all of my life, I could show you some stuff that would just blow your mind. There are certain people you can share these things with and there are certain people you cannot my opinion the universities. You wouldn’t believe the total devastation to town sites that I’ve seen done by government entities and universities . The destruction of ball courts disturbing burial sites, tearing up hearths that have been built upon, and upon prior to that. Once they start to find whole art effects and almost whole artifacts, it seems like all the rest of it goes by the wayside, wheeled to boundaries and discarded as trash. It’s heartbreaking and shameful not to mention unprofessional. I have found a little bit of treasure here and there. That’s all I’ll say I’ve been guided to different spots where there have been and still is treasure art. and I’ve taken my share, but I’d say over 98% of it. I have left behind for others . If you have any kind of a conscience or feeling for history in the past, you know what is right and what is wrong. Your gut will tell you or if the vibes right you may take an item if the vibe is not right you can look, but don’t take anything but memories and leave nothing but footprints . There is a vast network of people out there they get out and explore and find and seek treasure for the most part. Most of them are good people worthy not greedy and destructive. At least that’s what I have experienced in my lifetime. I have showen others. of course I’ve done follow up checks on them to see what they’ve done or how they’ve treated a site before I divulge any other information to them about anything else it’s all part of the apprenticeship program you have to be a good steward of the land and history it needs to be shared because people need to know. But it needs to be respected number one I could take you to some places that would just dazzle you blow you away . Ball courts pit houses old mining camps arastras etc. I know of a couple of places if you go there often enough throughout the years I can guarantee you you will find at least one or two silver coins and if you’re lucky a gold one. These places have been handed to me by others and they said it was the same for them. Pretty cool shit pretty cool people. I was in my 20s that swell over 40 years ago. I was shown some outcroppings of horn silver. Of course silver wasn’t really worth a bent nickel back then if I pushed it hard enough, I could probably find the same spot , but chances are more than likely somebody’s already found it and wiped it out, but they haven’t gotten it all. I think I heard it said at one time that less than 3% of the gold on this planet has ever been discovered or mined. I found an old wooden sloose box one time. It was a long Tom. I scraped the bottom of it and got over 2-1/2 oz. Don’t be greedy, but get out and enjoy the beautiful Southwest and share it with a responsible others. Happy trails

@@ricochetaz3846 I've definitely heard of people finding some interesting stuff out in the desert but they usually keep this information pretty secret/ in their family. Or among very close people they can trust the information with. A lot of the good stuff is already in private collections. But as you mentioned the desert is a very big place and you are bound to find at least one thing others have not discovered. I'm mostly interested in the history but the treasure/ artifact seeker in me likes that's aspect too. I found this really cool cave one time that had all sorts of old drawings in it. Was kind of off the beaten path up in northern Arizona. I think it was an undiscovered site that ancient peoples once used. That was kind of a neat experience for me. Some things should be left just the way they are.

I have property east of Tucson near the ghost town of pantano, Az I also have quads, bikes and a deuce and a half ( 6x6 army truck) too. The best time of the year will be upon us in a few weeks and good till the end of may. I love mine shafts drifts. Lots and lots of them hear about. I was just panning out some crushed ore from my last trip out today! Hope to hear from you. R.
