Reflexive verbs are a fundamental part of the Spanish language, and mastering them will greatly improve your communication skills in Spanish. With that said, do you know when and how to use them? If not, no worries. This video will help and you can learn alongside Cody.

Wow!!! This approach is total immersion in learning and an example that it is OK to not get it right every time the first time (but who's counting, and eventually you will). Special thanks to Cody for being willing to demonstrate a learning curve. I agree with Cody that it is easy to miss when listening and written is easier when learning. This video is so helpful because it provides pronunciation and written in the form of full immersion. Expressing personal services provided by others is new to me and a great stride to being fluent.

Me gusta mucho tu contenido amiga. Fíjate que hay algo interesante en dónde yo vivo, en el centro de México, no es normal, pero he llegado a escuchar "Me comí 4 tortas" como una forma expresiva, denotando que comí demasiado, y a veces escuché "Me tomé 7 chelas en la fiesta" con el mismo uso expresivo, En cuanto al uso pragmático siempre surgen frases muy interesantes, y aunque no lo diría quizá con esa lógica podría decir "me cené una pizza" 🤪🤪🤪

El Español que se habla en Chile es con diferencia el Español mas dificil de todos, pues es muy rapido y se habla de una forma poco pausada, incluso a nosotros como Hispanohablantes nos es dificil entenderlos en ocaciones. Les recomiendo a las personas que esten estudiando Español avanzado ver una entrevista o charla entre 2 personas Chilenas, si entienden al menos mas del 80% de lo que dicen pueden considerarse unos autenticos Spanish Masters

Every video I come across is the beginning of reflexive verbs and once I got to about minute 25 - 38:00 in your video, I had finally found what I have been searching for. Hello, when you Spanish native speakers think about a sentence like "te lo dio," do you directly reverse the sentence? Because in my mind, I am used to transforming "te lo dio" into "dio lo te" to understand it. Are your thought processes different from mine? You could also say "me corté el pelo", but you since the sentence is also used to talk about other people cutting our hair, you might want to specify by adding "yo mismo / yo misma": me corté el pelo yo mismo / me corté el pelo yo misma.

Gracias por este video muy interesante. Verbos reflexivos también existen en mi lengua materna, entonces no es problemático usarlos correctamente. Algo que no existe en mi lengua materna y probablemente en todas otras lenguas es algo como "Se me pegaron las sábanas". La concordancia entre sábanas y pegaron a mí me parece que las sábanas me pegaron. Es algo muy normal para los hispanohablantes nativos, pero para los otros suena muy extraño. ?Algo para otro video de why not spanish?

Al decir: "Jaime SE corta el pelo cada mes", ese "SE" significa que lo hizo él mismo. Lo que hace al verbo reflexivo, son estas palabras antes de los verbos conjugados: (yo) - ME + verbo, (tú)-TE + verbo, (él/ella) - SE + verbo, (Nosotros) - NOS + v, (ellos/ellas) - SE + v. Espero que esto aclare tu duda, saludos.

Puede ser cualquiera de las dos situaciones, pero necesitas más información del contexto. Cuando decimos "Jaime se cortó el pelo" puede ser que lo hizo él mismo, o que fue a una barbería y pagó por ese servicio. Generalmente cuando hablamos de servicios que alguien nos hace, usamos el reflexivo (interesante ¿no?).

the word "se" is a challenge to me every time I see it because, depending on its use context or placement in the sentence (reflexive, indirect object replacement in double pronoun use, etc...), it seems like it could essentially mean (or equate to in English) one of 20 or 30 different things (especially if there is not a helpful indicator like "a ella" or "a Juan" for emphasis or clarity): him, to him, for him, her, to her, for her, it, to it, for it, you, to you, for you, them, to them, for them, you plural, to you plural, for you plural, one (like in "se dice"), himself, herself, itself, oneself, yourself, themselves and yourselves. Did I miss any? Ay, ay, ay....lol

Levanto la mano….i raise my hand. Ella estaba frustrada porque me dijo que la persona levanta su propia parte del cuerpo y quería saber por qué no se dice me levanto la mano…. Le dije por qué en este caso la mano es como un objeto aunque es parte de tu propio cuerpo. Qué lío, no?
