I'm a dance but have been watching a lot of gymnastics videos recently. I can identify some of the guys by their feet (if I know the few possiblities). Earlier this year a gymnast shared a picture he was tagged in by a fan - it wasn't him. i could tell by the fact he has never pointed his feet as much as that gymnast was pointing!

The NYCB costume department had a video on KZbin yesterday about Nutcracker costumes & they mentioned the cameos of Balanchine on these costumes! So neat, the little details! This dance always seems insanely fast, so even though it's short, I imagine people run offstage panting. So lovely, though!

I have had a soft spot for nycb Hot Chocolate since I was little watching the older vhs recording! The stage presence of the leads, especially Brittany in this version, has always been a favorite moment of mine. There's even something extra fun about those heavy skirts and coordinated tights lol...love it! I am positively obsessed with this series, Katie!

Spanish is my favorite! I was Spanish lead this year, it was my first lead role in the Nutcracker! I loved it!🩰💖

The costumes were heavy because of the tassels and embroidery sewn at the hems and throughout the skirt. I had to organize, tag and hang them after the shows. Headpieces were heavy and anchored on so they wouldn't fall off. Gingerbread men suits were heavy as well, it was like trying to hang a stuffed quilt. This was my studio not NYC ballet but they are very similar except for a few things: Clara grows up and The Nutcracker takes her across in a giant swan boat (recycling Swan Lake Prop). The floating bed and young prince pantomine don't exist. Arabian is two dancers, Russian is a dance solo, Pas De Deaux is grown Clara and Prince, in white and glitter. They also had tiny sheep of four and five year olds, the Bo Peep promenade of seven and eight year olds, and Chinese wasn't offensive, they had a puppet dragon swirling around the stage. It was the most beautiful Nutcracker, i am quite sorry i wasn't allowed to perform when I was in top shape because I was not in company but taking classes full time.

This is my favorite role I always wanted to learn. Now that that I'm on a journey studying Flamenco. It would be awesome if they hired a professional Flamenco dancer in my opinion. But thanks for this deconstructed video. I really like the costumes of Spanish too
