How I love your sea shanties, it has something special and your performance is really awesome. How difficult is the cross hand playing? At one point I thought you fell off the piano bench 😁 you always make the songs very special Paul. Thank you! 🎹☺️

oh Truus thanks so much! I really enjoy making these Sea Shanty arrangements - they are somehow a bit epic and a lot of work but I like how creative I can be within it - and how the songs are really telling stories and give you a sense of adventure and being at sea ... it's fun trying to capture all that with the piano. I actually find crossing hands in those moments easier than giving the left hand the melody and the right hand the accompaniment... I somehow feel like the hands are so used to the roles they play that it feels good to keep them assigned... righty LOVES singing in that bass register and Lefty loves traveling up into unchartered territory ... he feels a bit naughty being on Righty's turf ... so as long as it's fun for them both, I guess I'll keep doing it!

Sea Shantys do something to me that no other music can. I like other music but this is different. I think it's something called Fernweh. It means that you're homesick for a place you've never been. I like that and I think it's true.
